IMPRESSIONISM IN THREADS
IMPRESSIONISM IN THREADS
The style we consider today is characterized by the new and clearly extraordinary artistic methods. Correspondingly, it can be recognized as an innovative direction and fine arts. With the tectonics of the colorful segments and the common visual effect, it at high extent assembles the stylistic direction – Pointellisme – developed by Georges Seurat in the last quarter of the XIX century, who has created so many interesting pictorial samples in neo-impressionism. And the basis of the artistic method developed by a Georgian artist, Lana Bendukidze is built on the divisional passages. However, the pointed segments are being created with colorful threads instead of the paints. Optical effects require the threads of hundreds of colors cut in millimeters, and so-called the thread dust. The colorful gamma formulated with the pointed details, tones and semitones gradation harmonically issues the dominant colors, creates the character, texture and revitalizes the theme. Sometimes, the works are vivid and clear, and sometimes so fragile and transparent. The definition of the transitional colors creates a uniform, complete and improved tint, which often is mystically deep and arcane. Similar to Seurat, Georgian artist is inspired with the color theory as well and her innovative technique is the excellent guarantee to vividly embody this theory to the canvas. The artist uses the canvas, dewy textile, beads, glue and sometimes the oil paints for her thread painting. The tools are classified as follows: tweezers, narrow wooden stick, brush. However, all these instruments are still of a supplementary nature as the works are mostly being made with thefingers. The development constitutes of several phases. First of all, the threads – as the main component, is being processed and prepared for the working process. It is being cut with maximum 2-meter pieces. The texture corresponds to their size. The threads minced create so-called thread dust, which constitutes the brilliant material for the creation of the unreal, mystical and vogue background. It is noteworthy that often, the background of one color is achieved with the whole set of the colors and thus, the background is extremely intense, deep and expressional. The above-mentioned new style is applied to create the interesting samples of the mixed technique made with a combination of the threads and the oil. Yet another interesting detail is to be underlined – every piece of the thread painting shall be decorated with the frame of the respective shape to emphasize the painting and enhance the efficiency of the concept. Divisionism with threads is a very impressive and interesting novelty in Georgian arts. The works created with this technique manifest the exquisite taste and high professionalism of the Georgian innovator artist
