Dog goes completely berserk over woman's torn jeans

Lily is a two year old golden retriever, poodle cross, commonly known as a golden doodle. She is full of character and personality, like a lot of dogs. But Lily's reaction to many things is very extreme. One day, while sitting in the living room, Lily's owner, Nicole put her finger in the worn section of her distressed jeans. There was nothing all that unusual about the jeans, or about Nicole's choice to insert her finger in the hole, but Lily's reaction was priceless.Show more

Lily began barking and snarling as if she was seeing something horrible and frightening. Possibly being protective, Lily began jumping around and baring her teeth. She stared with wide eyes as Niocole's finger moved in and out of the tear. Each time Nicole's finger nail popped out of the end, Lily erupted in a series of barks. Nicole got out her camera and recorded Lily's curious reaction.

It would be wonderful if we could understand what a dog was thinking during an episode like this. Was she playing a game, fully understanding and enjoying the humor? Was she confused and threatened by the finger being partly hidden in the fabric? She must have understood that it was part of Nicole's hand as she made no attempt to actually bite it.

When she is not barking at fingers in jeans, Lily loves to play and splash in the river behind the house. She enjoys chasing the salmon as they come up the river to spawn. She loves stealing all kinds of food off the counter top, including beef, bread, and even bananas. Lily has also been video taped protectively chasing and barking at an enormous spider in the garage that was terrifying poor Nicole.

Lily has been a source of entertainment for Nicole since she was a small puppy. Highly intelligent, agile, and mischievous, Lily has all the qualities that help a young dog get into more than her share of trouble. She also has an adorably guilty face with the best puppy dog eyes ever, which are perfect for getting Lily out of trouble when needed.
