According to Reuters, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Monday that the number of measles cases in the United States have increased by 60 from last week, bringing the total to 764.
The number was up 8.5 percent since the most recent tally of 704 last week. The CDC said that the cases are the highest since 1994, the highest in the U.S. in more than a quarter-century.
Health officials have tried robocalls, vaccination orders and fines, to stop the spread of the disease, but now are counting on an informational network of community groups, religious leaders and medical practitioners.
