Sowing and Reaping – Ravi Chandran

In 2 Corinthians 9:6-9, we read Paul's teaching about sowing and reaping: "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously." Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God can bless you abundantly, so that you will have all that you need in all things at all times and abound in every good work." As it is written: 'They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.'"

While the Biblical principles of sowing and reaping are true, this financial principle has often been abused. Human greed and selfishness have impacted churches as well, and sometimes they quote these Scriptures out of context. These verses are not about a "get rich quick" scheme! Perhaps some of us have encountered such teachings in the past and are tempted to "throw the baby out with the bathwater." Let's examine these scriptures alongside others and learn to "invest" in God's kingdom the Biblical way for earthly and heavenly rewards. Amen!
