"We also think it's very important that there be a new ICD-10 Code. So that we're not stuck with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis or Neurasthenia or Chronic Fatigue. This (SEID) needs it's own diagnostic criteria" - Ellen Wright Clayton

Frank Twisk (2017) stated that "M.E." (also known as Enteroviral Encephalomyelitis) and CFS are different illnesses, with "M.E." (also known as Enteroviral Encephalomyelitis) resulting in a "Neuromuscular Disorder" and CFS being partially overlapping fatigue-based illnesses, and that it was not possible to replace both "M.E." (also known as Enteroviral Encephalomyelitis) and "Chronic Fatigue Syndromes" with a single diagnostic entity. Frank Twisk also stated that "SEID" included some patients that did not meet either "M.E." (also known as Enteroviral Encephalomyelitis) or "CFS" non-diagnostic criteria"
