The hamstring curl is meant to isolate hamstrings. Unfortunately, the way most people do it is not isolating the handstrings. The biggest cue that that's happening is when your butt comes off the back rest pad. Keep your butt snug against that pad and even lean forward a little bit with your chest. This will also put the hips into a better position, also known as anterior pelvic tilt, for stretching the hamstrings. Thus, you get a greater range of motion and can get better results for your muscle gain and joint health.
