Matthew Session 4

Straight from God's mouth to your ears- and hopefully your heart. The sermon on the mount. The longest continual discourse from God through Yeshua about the law and what is expected from the church going forward. Directly from The Word of God, which IS Jesus Christ.
God completely changes the game from the Law outwardly, to the battle within. Within each one of us, on a thought by thought basis rages the wrestling with sin and contention for righteousness. Even while we are surrounded in a world which actively assaults our senses with the temptation of sin, and sinful thoughts. Every commercial packed with overt and subliminal sexuality. Every song, book, technology geared to have us thinking and focusing on OURSELVES, pride, ego.
A million angles, a million cuts, a million poisons-
all geared to make us take a bite from the apple. To turn away from God, Yaweh and toward ourselves.
To make us our own gods - to try and BE our own "most high."
"Hath God REALLY said?" Said the serpent to Eve-
The song remains the same.
The trick that keeps on giving.
Not only that - but the trick is dual-fold. To get us to look inwardly favorably upon ourselves, and outwardly at our brothers, sisters, mothers, the world - and judge OTHERS as the evil, gone astray, lost-
while WE are the "good ones" seeking "the truth."
Surely WE will be saved, and "THEY" are in a lot of trouble, lol.
It is a tough thing to do, to come out of the world- and still observe it with discernment of what time it is. What is going on.
The machinations of Satan, and all of his devices.

Why was the law given?
Because it is the standard by which we are to live by - the most high standard.
Which we cannot keep.
We cannot keep the law.
And to not keep the law is sin.
And sin is death. Previously, SOMETHING had to die for the transgression of sin. Either ourselves, or some innocent animal in our stead.
Many people look at that and give up entirely right at the beginning.
"Why should I even TRY and do something which I know cannot be done?"
(these invisible metaphorical people I have no idea who they are, haha)
Either consciously or unconsciously.

Because, if the standard is NOT perfection, God's perfection, then man remains forever on a slippery slope of self-delusion. Of appeasement to sin. Of a moving bar, of lowering standards. Of a forever shifting foundational sand-
on which no house, no structure can be built.
Of "well it wasn't THAT bad," or "it's just a minor thing."
Or "well I'm not like THAT person." Of judging ourselves against ourselves, and others, and-
the world. And not upon God, and God's perfection.

And if that wasn't bad enough,
now it gets a whole lot worse (haha).
The Lord completely changes the game.
Not through a prophet but straightaway from His own lips;
to even THINK these things, sinful thoughts, desires, envies, vanities-
carry the sin. Are sin. Carry the weight of sin, and it's penalties of death.
Can you do that?
Do you think you do that?
Can you go through even one day where you think NO thoughts of
Greed, sloth, lust, vanity, envy, wrath, or pride?
I know I cannot.
But then like Paul I think I am one of the chief sinners amongst us.
If you think that you can then...
I would say that is pride and vanity itself-
you look more outwardly and not inwardly
and why do I feel I can say this outwardly? Because the Lord Himself has said these things.

«God forbid : for then how shall God judge the world? For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner? And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just. What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; (proved: Gr. charged)»
Romans 3:6-9

«As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:»
Romans 3:10

«God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God. Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.»
Psalms 53:2-3

And yet....
Even in these last times-STILL we are offered salvation.
Because Yaweh has changed the game entirely- from outward keeping of the law, and outward sacrifices.
To inwardly keeping the law to an even HIGHER level,
and inward sacrifices.
From a perfect law,
to a perfect sacrifice, one sacrifice
Yeshua, Jesus the Christ.

My damnation has become my salvation.
My priest my counselor,
my King my friend, and servant.
My brother-
who would, and DID die for me-
in my stead.

Now it matters on the inside.
Now as Daniel's friends we are in "the crucible." Fire all without,
and the refining within, held to God's standards, God's perfection, and not our own.
SO get in there - inside yourself - and you'd best take God in there with you-
and God's light (Yeshua) and God's sacrifice (Yeshua).
Search out the sin inside, the corruption, the false teachings, false assumptions and flaws upon which we each are built.
And they will be different for each one of us (the Tower of Babel is not only language), which makes it difficult for us to relate one to another - another beautiful trick.
Clean house. Clean the inside of the cup, that the outside may shine.
Change pride to humility.
Wrath to meekness (restraint).
Lust to real love for others.
Envy to happiness and joy for others good fortune and favor.
These are the hardest things in the world to do.
Impossible even. But with the Lord-
all things are possible. And only with God Himself can they be accomplished.
When God knows every hair on our heads, and every thought which has flown across our minds and hearts-
what are prayers then? Are WE telling GOD, Yehova something He doesn't already know?
No-
It is; do WE know-
Do WE understand ourselves and search after righteousness. Do WE strive after and run for, and seek after our father's desires, His heart.
Do WE understand the hole we're in-
and the way out.
Which is why salvation is SUCH a gift.

I'm SO LUCKY the Lord made me an alcoholic. Does that sound weird to hear? It's weird to say, lol. But I can't see myself reaching out to Him the way I have (flawed and downright stubborn as it is) unless I had reached the bottom of myself.
You're probably a whole lot better than I, with a lot less need of the Lord.
Then I consider you in a whole lot more precarious position my friend.

«And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them,

They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice:

for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.»
Matthew 9:10-13

And lastly I will leave you with this, though it may not be any shorter (haha)

Forgive.
Forgive as Stephen forgives-
as the Lord forgives, wholly.
And if you cannot forgive wholly (holy?) then at first forgive technically- even though you carry the grudge still. Fake it until you make it. Pray for forgiveness until forgiveness comes.
Some will be easy,
some will be hard,
some may be lifelong.
But never stop forgiving, shedding ourselves of these weights of justifications-
of pride, of the shifting sands of poor foundation.
read The Sermon on the Mount of Olives over and over. For it is your (our, my) new standard.
As Moses was given the Ten Commandments upon Sinai,
now you and I are given our new, and higher standard by which to refine ourselves.
We willingly place OURSELVES into the crucible- to be tried,
to be purified, to be perfected.

For a long time I had no idea what this parable meant-
«He also said to His disciples: “There was a certain rich man who had a steward, and an accusation was brought to him that this man was wasting his goods. So he called him and said to him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward.’ “Then the steward said within himself, ‘What shall I do? For my master is taking the stewardship away from me. I cannot dig; I am ashamed to beg. I have resolved what to do, that when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.’ “So he called every one of his master’s debtors to him, and said to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’ And he said, ‘A hundred measures of oil.’ So he said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’ Then he said to another, ‘And how much do you owe?’ So he said, ‘A hundred measures of wheat.’ And he said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’ So the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light.»
LUKE 16:1-8

Tear up the notes of debt you believe you hold of others, because they are notes of debt unto OURSELVES. Our own debts ARE the notes we hold over others also. Hold them not accountable-
for we too stand accused.

«And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.»
Luke 11:4

And further illustrated from two more angles of debt to God:

«And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on. There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.»
Luke 7:40-43

And ending in Matthew, one of the most powerful of all:

«Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. (worshipped him: or, besought him)
Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt. But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.

And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.

Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.»
Matthew 18:21-35

Forgive,
and if you cannot forgive out of love
then forgive out of shrewedness for your (our) debts ARE their debts.
And pray that your (our) shrewedness be changed by love, to love.
What does the Lord say about forgiveness? What is one of the best ways to forgive? To truly show that you forgive that person?
To pray for them. To pray that they be blessed by the Lord. That they recieve as you and I have recieved- of grace, of mercy, of riches, of blessings.
And if you cannot- then beg the Lord's help in this thing.
Start your prayers with forgiveness. Forgive each person (on our invisible lists) you believe has sinned against you and bless them, pray blessings over them.
Soon, there will be no more list.

«Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.»
Mark 11:24-26
