America’s Universities are Raising Emotional Infants | Student can’t handle words she disagrees with

America’s young people need to toughen up—quickly. They’re coddled on college and university campuses across America—to the point where they actually think it’s somehow acceptable to steal property, vandalize property, scream “f*ck you!” or yell other insults at the top of their lungs all because they don’t like the message someone is promoting.

And this isn’t just a one-off.

Multiple students attempted to steal and vandalize our property. They were cheered on and then defended by the entire crowd.

And the defense was always, “We’re offended, and we’re college students, so give us a break.”

You don’t need to be a college graduate to know how to not behave like a toddler. You don’t need to be as old as I am to know how to not behave like a toddler. You don’t need to be in a comfortable situation at all times with zero possibility of being offended to again, know how to not behave like a toddler.

The university put out free speech trigger warnings before our event, AND we gave students the mic and the floor to share their opinions and disagree. That shouldn’t trigger you so badly that you literally lose all control.

We weren’t there to provoke and trigger. We were there to dialogue. But our neo-liberal institutions and propaganda have students believing that they can write off anything they don’t like as Nazism—and everyone knows you don’t debate Nazis. If they can label you as hateful, they have an excuse to behave as badly as they please and to never actually have to argue the merits of their point.

It’s got to stop.
