"Up Around the Bend," written by John Fogerty, was CCR's 6th top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 rising to the no. 4 position in 1970 (Whitburn, 2013). Fogerty wrote that "this song came to him when he was riding his motorcycle though the California hills" (songfacts, 2025) and wrote the song "during social and political uproar, reflecting a common desire to find solace and hope in a tumultuous world" (J. Landrum, melodyinsight, Jan. 29, 2024).
