Bouncing is Different From Muscle Force
30
Muscles, ligaments, and tendons have bouncy elements to them. This helps you push weight after hitting the bottom range of motion and start pushing back up. But, if you add a pause before pushing like in a pin situation, you'll negate the elastic portion and just be using muscle force alone to accelerate the weight. This challenges the muscle force (strength) at the bottom of the range where the muscle is stretched more. By almost all available research, overloading the stretched portion is better for strength and muscle mass if that's your goal. You'll notice how much harder it is to lift with a pause.
