Rees Howells Wales Missionary Intercessor Book Answers the Question: What is Intercessory Prayer? Or What is an Intercessor? I finished reading the book this year titled Rees Howells: Intercessor Written by Norman Grubb. Rees Howells was one of the most famous saints in modern times who identified with the ministry of intercession. We was a missionary in Wales who lived from 1879-9150. Rees was able to accomplish great things in his life such as an thriving street ministry and founding a Christian college. Rees Howells also had many physical healings take place in his ministry. Rees was not impressed by any those things. He considered his whole life’s purpose was the ministry of intercession. He would often pray for hours a day for weeks at a time. So what then is the ministry of intercession? Believers in general have regarded intercession as just some form of rather intensified prayer. And intercession can be intense for sure but that is not what makes it intercessory prayer. Rees Howell’s explained it this way: A prayer warrior can pray for a thing to be done without necessarily being willing for the answer to come through himself; and he is not bound to continue in the prayer until its answered. But an intercessor is responsible for gaining his objective, and he can never be free till he has gained it. He will go to any lengths for the prayer to be answered through himself. Intercessors are people who in faith perseverance to walk through the prayer journey with you. And they finish the job, no matter what it takes, and no matter how long it takes. They go much deeper than the average prayer warrior. This comes with a burden from the Holy Spirit for that assignment. And they will not stop till you finish the assignment. Who thinks we need more intercessors like Rees Howells in the church today?
