Bottom line is: the best way to put more tension on you deltoid in a stretched position is by leaning. Freight lateral raises have maximum tension at the top and not in the more stretched positions. I started doing these a couple years ago and noticed a difference in my shoulders. It's harder so go lighter. You might not feel a better workout the first time because the coordination and positioning is kinda weird, but you will get better results with increased tension in the more stretched deltoid zone.
