And lawlessness in the past isn’t an excuse for lawlessness in the present

No, we are not “a nation of immigrants.” No, we’re not all immigrants. The settlers and founders who established this nation were not immigrants. Immigrants come to an established country (hopefully lawfully). Settlers or founders come where there is no established country and then establish it.

Moreover, claiming that illegal immigration happened in our nation’s history and that anyone who isn’t “Native American” benefited from illegal immigration, is NOT a sound justification for allowing illegal immigration in the present day. That would be like saying, “some people benefited from slavery in their family’s history, so they can’t criticize slavery in the present,” or “some people benefited from m*rders in the past, so we should allow m*rder moving forward to make it all fair.”

No one would accept that—not even crazy Democrats.

Whatever you think of our nation’s founding and history, bad behavior, unlawfulness, and injustice in the past does not excuse bad behavior, unlawfulness, and injustice in the present.

We have a RIGHT and a DUTY to enforce our immigration laws.
