So many of our cravings can be traced back to a lack of amino acids.

So many of our cravings—especially the ones that hit out of the blue—can be traced back to a lack of amino acids, the building blocks of protein. And not just any protein… complete animal protein.

Julia Ross (author of The Craving Cure) puts it like this:

"Protein has gone from being our primary food source prior to 1970 to third place. And sugar and starch are the new number one with fat, mostly high Omega six vegetable oil in second place.

High protein foods are chockfull of amino acids and they need to return to a prime place on our plate. Most of what we are from muscles, bones, skin, and most other body parts to our neurotransmitters are constructed largely of protein.

About 30% of the calories on our plate should come from protein.

One example, red meat is the source of, by far, the most assimilable forms of the vital zinc, in which most of us are now deficient."

So here’s the gentle nudge I needed (and maybe you do too):

If you're wrestling with food cravings or overeating, before you blame your willpower, try eating more protein. 100 grams a day or more!

And as always, start with prayer. He meets us in the small things—even in what we eat. 💕
