Understand Your Brain Is Trying To Protect You
Your brain's main job is to protect you. Sometimes it can be overprotective, however. When you know you need to enact real positive change, but just can't seem to, that's the overprotection. Most powerful thing you can do is recognize it and the emotions your feeling about making that change and interpret those emotions as excitement for making yourself better. Also, focus on the individual steps, not the broad-sweeping aspect about a whole major change to your life. It gets easier to keep that change going (20 days or less to become automatic). Give yourself those 20 days or so and you won't even want to go back to eating too many cookies or chips or laying down all day long or whatever it is once you feel how much better you are without it.
