We have been studying foundational understandings out of the Book of Genesis. We have remained in Chapter 41 for some time now, because in it, by laying the New Testament over the types of the life of Joseph, we can see the crux of the whole Gospel. Using the type of Joseph, we can see Jesus in the Anti-type, Who like Joseph, was rejected by His natural born brethren (Joseph’s brothers typing Jesus’ Jewish brethren), His being raised from the dead in Hades (which is typed in Joseph being raised up out of the pit), Jesus’ being exalted to the right hand of the Father (which is typed in Joseph being exalted to second in command next to Pharaoh), and Jesus’ receiving of a Bride taken mostly from the Gentiles which is typed in Joseph receiving Pharaoh’s (Egyptian/Gentile) daughter as his bride. All this takes place in Chapter 41, which is before Joseph (Jesus in the Anti-type) turns again to his (His) Jewish brethren, which is typed in the next Chapter (Genesis 42). So this is why we can’t brush through this Chapter just intellectually recognizing the types that point to the Anti-types. We must grasp the truth of what’s being conveyed to us through the types in order that in our lives, we might walk effectively as followers and imitators of Christ, our Forerunner… to the end that we would also be exalted to reign with Him as His Bride in glory.

Continuing in 41st Chapter Anti-type, as there is still much to spiritually break down and ruminate on.…
So this period of time in Chapter 41 (the 7 years before the 7 years of famine) where Egypt is in the ‘times of plenty’ reflects the New Testament timeframe of the last 2000 years of this Age of Grace since Christ’s death and the rejection of Him by His Jewish brethren. These 7 years (times of plenty) come before we reach the beginning of the 7 years of famine, which represents/types the Tribulation, which will lead to the restoration of the Jews back unto Christ and unto God the Father.

Luke 19:10 says… “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” While His coming and Return results in the restoration of the Jews, on a deeper level, the Son of man’s coming was to propitiate for Adams’ sin unto death by His own sinless death unto life and “save (make whole) that (communion relationship within mankind) which was lost” (in the Garden). Which is to say; by the only means that would repeal God’s declared just and holy sentence for Adam’s treason by which his seed then might be empowered to walk again in the Earth with what Adam lost; the ‘image’/the nature of God. The person who has been born-again from above, through drawing by faith again upon the restored wellspring of communion love/grace within his spirit can marvelously overcome the corrupted ‘flesh’ (unrenewed mind and sensual body), the world, and the devil. How do we overcome the them? By ‘not loving our lives unto death.’ By denying ‘self,’ and submitting to God, which is then resisting the devil, and being transformed into His image and not conforming ourselves to the pattern of this wicked World. We do this by being set apart unto God as Jesus was in this World. See 1st John 2:6… “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.”

The amazing Gospel story of the Wisdom of God is seen in the reconciliation and exaltation of man. (Ephesians 3:10-19… “To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God (God will show off the ‘new creature’ to the principalities and powers who now rule in the heavenly unseen realm associated with the Earth), According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord (God predestined to have a people/a new creature that would answer to both God‘s heart and Christ’s heart… in that the new creature is a firstborn son unto God and is a Bride unto Christ, thus fulfilling Adam’s call as a Son of God who would rule in union with a Bride and have dominion over the Earth and the heavens associated with the Earth): In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him (by His propitiation, we can come boldly and confidently beyond the veil into the Throneroom of God to attain mercy and grace/power that we might be Overcomers in this life and thus be brought into supernatural union with Him in His coming 1000-year reign and eternal Kingdom). Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory (“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory…” - 2nd Corinthians 4:17). For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love (which is a result of our being transformed into His image), May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God” (the fullness of God - a present state that we might walk in that in the completed state for the redeemed man, is being a part of the First Resurrection glory/being in Union with Him forever).

To that end, God’s eternal Son was supernaturally conceived and born of a woman as the Second Adam, having an enlivened spirit, in complete union/communion with the Father. “Who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited (not exploiting His position), but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave/servant being born in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death… even death on a cross.” (Philippians 2 - New Revised Standard Version) He walked in the World, being no less vulnerable than Adam to succumbing to disobedience (when all His tests, trials, and temptations are considered). As He lived for 30 years as a man, and was tried and tested in all points as a man, and was faithful to always walk in the communion image of God in normal living. He was then filled with the Holy Spirit at Water Baptism, and was sorely tempted by satan himself when He was for 40 days in the wilderness, and throughout the next 3+ intense years of satanically-inspired opposition, which resulted in His Crucifixion. Having never once relinquished the communion/union image of the Father in exchange for ‘self.’ (Hebrews 1:3… “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high…” (where He currently sits as our High Priest and mediates/intercedes for the redeemed continually.) John 5:19… “Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.” See also John 14:9 where Jesus says, “…he that hath seen me hath seen the Father…”)

Hebrews 2:9-11 - Revised English Version… “…so by God’s gracious will, he (Jesus) should experience death for all mankind. In bringing many sons to glory it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom all things exist, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through sufferings; for he who consecrates and those who are consecrated are all of one stock. (Here we need to pause and make it personal, as it is, and say, ‘Thank you God for making me one stock with You and with Christ.’) That is why he does not shrink from calling men his brothers” (brethren)…

How mind-blowing that Jesus calls us brothers. See also John 20:16 where He tells Mary Magdalene… “…go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. This revelation of Him being our God and Father should reveal the great deficit of love we religiously live in. It should create in us a desire and yearning to love as God does and as Christ (Who is the express image of God) modeled for us. If we are truly apprehending the love of God, our light is shining like Christ, because we are in Him, and Him in us. His life was the prototype for how ours ought to be. But instead, most in Christendom are in a prison of ‘self-centeredness.’ They’re more about needing to be loved than maturing in and giving love. Love puts others’ needs before its own.

And all that Jesus did, He did so willingly, “for the joy set before Him”….that “of bringing many sons unto glory” and the sealing of satan’s eternal fate (Christ’s reason for coming was about more than saving man, as the sealing of Satan’s fate eternally, and that of the angels that rebelled with him, would result in having no rogue spirits to wreak havoc in the eternal kingdom). 1st John 1:3 says… “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” All this was part of the pre-conceived Salvation plan of this fallen Realm by the Father… which was determined “before the foundation of the world.” (Ephesians 1:3-14… “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in (transforming) love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved (in Jesus). In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him (see Revelation 21-22): In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That we (the New Creature) should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.”)

How marvelous that the eternal Son of God would incarnate as man, to be the Father’s Way/Forerunner/Pioneer/Model and the means by which an alienated man; born in spirit, soul, and body like unto fallen Adam, might be reconciled unto unity/communion with God! The fact that Man, being since birth enslaved in the building of a kingdom for satan, can hear the Gospel of God’s graciousness and grace/power, and renounce his citizenship in this World, and humbly receive, through Christ’s redemption, re-birth from above and obediently be water baptized, and that he can thereby enter into a new proclaimed (by God) standing, never before existing, is inconceivable.

Applying the lesson into action:
Paul told us that the Israelites were an example unto us. After their being redeemed from Egypt (as we were redeemed from the World and its ruler) because of their unbelief, they did not go into the promised land. Likewise, if we don’t believe God, we also won’t go in. We can’t just try in our own might. We need to surrender. We need to have a spirit like Joshua and Caleb to believe that our enemies (spiritual giants) are bread to us and believe that with God’s infilling power, we can do it. We are to take the Kingdom by force/violence (Matthew 11:12) against these enemies who are currently in the promised land of the heavenly realm above this Earth, and controlling in one way or another everything we think about. Unfortunately, many in Christianity don’t even see the need to fight (or to fight effectively) self-centeredness, which is the biggest Giant in our Land/heart, believing that Jesus ‘did it all’ for them, and after redemption, their sole purpose is just to survive. But we are redeemed for a purpose. God created man to have union with Him. We are to be transformed into the lost image and be fruitful and follow in Jesus’ footsteps. Ephesians 5:2… “Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.”

When we sin, we are to be quick to repent, knowing, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” [1st John 1:9] Most of Christendom submit to the first part of the verse of confessing their sin, but then they do not move forward and to allow the Blood of Christ to cleanse the conscience… “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” [Hebrews 9:14] In order to faithfully serve the living God, we need, by faith, to enter into Word-based communion with Him which results in transformation and thus, we will (out of communion with Him) begin to bear true spiritual fruit. The only time our light shines or manifests is when we pour out to others. Christians are not to be deceived into being satisfied where they’re at (which allows for self-centeredness), but are to yield to the Holy Spirit unto true character change/transformation into His image. Instead, most (ignorantly) through false teaching, resist transformation and proclaim, ‘We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.’ Which is a half-truth, because though they are righteous and justified before God by imputation, that is just the beginning of the Fathers’ purposed intent, that we are to surrender to the new life in Jesus and then are to be sanctified/transformed into the image of Christ by the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit and produce fruits of righteousness.

We do not realize that by not yielding our members unto righteousness, we are trading our inheritance and our eternal purpose for being created for a bowl of porridge/temporary pleasure. We can never obtain the grace/power for transformation while continuing to satisfy our flesh/self-centeredness that is being enabled by our religious blindness which assures us that ‘we are in good standing with God’ because we are redeemed, even while continuing to live in the flesh. This lie steals from you your destiny, purpose, fruitfulness, and makes you a prisoner of ‘self.’ If we are not sold out for God, or are conformed to the World, our purpose for being here is in vain. We sadly (nay, tragically) will have been found guilty at the Judgement Seat of Christ as having taken his name in vain, and found a wicked servant. Jesus said, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven (His heavenly rule in the first heavens for 1000 years); but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” [Matthew 7:21] Luke 6:46… “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” In other words, ‘Why did you not deny your self-centeredness/your old man… and take up your cross and FOLLOW Me in developing the Father’s love in you? If you are my ‘Body, why do you not embody my teachings?’ God has not paid such a high price for you that you should remain Pharisaic, offering Him works of rote ritual, or of mere behavior modification, but seeks your loving faith for character change/transformation. We are to awaken unto righteousness and bear fruit. Yes, the redeemed have eternal life. But that is just quantity of life as opposed to eternal quality of life, which is one of Union with God and Jesus forever… without which we will not have the sonship relation that ‘sees God.’

In this Age of Grace (typed in Joseph’s times of plenty) wherein the Holy Spirit is searching for a Bride worthy for God’s Son to be co-heir with Him and share in His glory, God is ‘revealing us to us’ (those redeemed yearning to be a part of Christ’s Bride) by the mirror of His Word and revelation. Are we being transformed into a Bride and taking on His image so that we may be forever in Union with Him? To do this, we must have the revelation to see ourselves as who God created us to be. Just as Jesus saw Peter for what he would be and not for what he had done (after having denied Him), we are to confess our sins (if we sin, John says) but not identify with them (a little introspection is necessary for overcoming, but too much is perpetuating a wrong identity). Our sins are not to be our identity. If they are sincerely confessed, our sins are forgiven and cast into the sea of forgetfulness (by the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus) and God looks past that to our maturing fruitfulness… so then we should also look past them too (with gratefulness). This is not license to sin, but a reason to gratefully persevere that we might be Overcomers and be who He called us to be. We need to wake up knowing we are being fathered by a God Who loves us beyond all measurable depth, width, length, and height. We can’t be in a funk, or a standstill, believing we are who are past sins say we are.

When you go to Him in prayer, stop being in despair about what you did or didn’t do or vent all your complaints about this person or that situation. This is not communion with Him! We are to start with where Jesus Christ finished… reckoning ourselves dead unto sin, knowing that if we sin, we have an Advocate Who intercedes on our behalf, and choose to yield to walk out/model our faith, energized by love. We need to pray in line with the Word of God… ‘Thank You God for making me able to comprehend Your love. Thank You for equipping me to be a vessel of Your love. Thank You that Your Word says that if I draw nigh unto You, You will draw nigh unto me. Thank You that You have ‘blessed us with all spiritual blesings in heavenly places in Christ’ and that You have ‘chosen us in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before You in love.’ Thank You Father, that You direct my steps, that You give me rest, that with You, all things are possible. Thank You that You are for me and not against me. Thank You for Your wisdom, that Your grace is sufficient, that You will never leave me. Thank You that Your “divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness” and that You have (through the knowledge of You) called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye (we) might be partakers of the divine nature…” (2nd Peter 1:3-4) Thank You that by Your power, I can crucify the ‘old man’ and the old nature within and thank You that when the old man comes down from the cross, I can put him back up on the cross and not convince myself that he is who I’m doomed to be. I can tell the ‘old man’ to shut up. He’s not me. I am being fabricated into a New Creature in Christ. I know who the enemy is. I will not wake up each day in despair or in self-condemnation believing like the Israelites did that ‘my enemies are too great for me to defeat.’ The highest I can go is the ceiling that I put on myself. If I yield to the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit to change me, and am rooted and grounded in love, I can overcome the flesh, the World, and satan, and share in an inheritance with Christ that God has prepared for those who love Him.

See the supplemental explanation of the Drawing shown below:

We are created a living soul (Nephesh in the Hebrew). We have a heart which has abilities to think, reason, and decide. The unrenewed/unsaved heart is controlled by the carnal mind and sensual body. The born-again regenerated person‘s heart is controlled by a renewed mind and their body is subservient to it.

See the drawing with the three circles where the innermost one is colored in dark except for a pinhole of light in the center. This represents where there is just enough light to animate the spirit in a un-regenerated person. This is the state of man inherited by Adam. The second circle below it is a depiction of a person who is born-again, and the inner circle is clear as the spirit has been flooded with life and is full of light.

The center drawing is of a redeemed person who is yielded to the Holy Spirit of God and empowered unto Transformation. It is a transformation into love from a self-centered being to a God-centered being. We are made of body, soul, and spirit. Our spirit is where the redeemed have communion with God. The little dots coming from the center of the spirit in communion with God depict an ongoing work of transformation being worked out in the carnal soul and the sensual body. When the will-gate (gate to our spirit) is open and yielded to the Holy Spirit, we see the results of transformation (true character change - not just mere outward behavior modification) in our soul and in our bodies. (Our soul being the essence of who we are… which is made up of our Imagination, Memory, Emotions, Mind, and Conscience. Our bodies consisting of the 5 sense organs associated with sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch.)
