Let's talk about real food solutions for blood sugar balance. 🙌

I used to go to the direction of sugar substitutes, but I developed some digestive problems from them.

I have blood sugar issues, so what I am currently doing is choosing low glycemic index sweeteners such as coconut sugar or maple syrup.

It doesn't mean you can eat sweets with abandon. You want to eat them with fat and whole grains to slow down digestion.

Here's what I do:

➡️ Make sure to eat your sweetened food after you've had a meal that has fiber, protein, and fat. I like to have my treats after a meal where I've had my 30 grams or more of protein and a salad. That helps to slow down digestion so there isn't a huge blood sugar spike.

➡️ Also consider the best time of day. I know I'm far more sensitive to having sweets at breakfast and lunch. I'll be much more tired than if I had it at dinner. Everybody's different!

You could go the direction of sugar alcohols, or sugar substitutes, and maybe it'll be fine for you.

Personally, for me, it backfired after several years, and I didn't even have a ton of them.

I just simply couldn't digest them anymore. They caused me so much distress.

So I just choose to have less sweets overall, and strategically place them in my diet, so that I don't get blood sugar issues. 💕
