We actually have a bill, that is being kicked around in a state legislature that, if enacted into law, would ban assault weapons, ban magazines which hold more than 10 rounds, and create an unlawful gun registry. Washington Gun Law President, William Kirk, discusses New Mexico SB 279, which, if passed, would do all of this. So while in most states it takes years or even decades to erode all of its citizens' constitutional rights, it appears that New Mexico is trying to play catch up and if SB 279 becomes law, they will have done exactly that.
