Viva is mistaken on at least one point, and that has to do with how an election could be called before October. Understand that Mark Carney may be the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada (LPC) and therefore the Prime Minister, but he does not yet have a seat in Parliament. There are two ways that Carney could win a seat: One way would be to oblige a Liberal back bench MP to resign, triggering a by-election that Carney could then challenge as the Liberal candidate. That would (hopefully for him) win him a seat so that he could sit in Parliament, but only until the mandatory election in October. The other way, as Viva alluded to, would be to challenge an earlier general election. Such an election could come about either through the Liberals falling in a parliamentary vote of non-confidence as Viva mentioned, OR by the PM (i.e. Mark Carney) meeting with the Governor General to request an election. It makes sense that the LPC would want to trigger an election themselves. First of all, they're currently riding quite high in the opinion polls after weeks of the LPC leadership race dominating the headlines. Then, Mark Carney has all the political instincts and language of a WEF globalist elitist and the charisma of a technocrat banker (or a houseplant). For this reason his honeymoon period with moderate voters probably has the best before date of a bag of avocados. In my view, the sooner the Liberals go before the general electorate, the better their prospects. They have the opportunity themselves to jump into that election, even if the NDP still lacks the stones to push them.

If anyone cares to be actually informed, Viva apparently doesn't know that a non-confidence vote is not required. Carney could go to the Governor General and request an election be called, and in fact that's most likely what will happen within the next couple weeks. Electoral District Associations all over the country have already started renting out office space.
