A crucial component to better joint health and better muscle functionality, and hypertrophy is to fully stretch the muscle and for the bicep, you cannot fully stretch it unless your arm is extended behind you. Using the cables and standing far forward allows this position. The cables keep a better constant weight throughout the whole range if the exercise as well. A higher level tip: keep the chest tilted toward the ceiling the whole time and dont ler the elbows move forward as you curl up. Try this one if you haven't.
