Pickup Fails to Yield to 18 Wheeler, GOODRICH, January 28, 2025 - At approximately 4:40 pm on January 28, 2025, a white 2021 Chevy Silverado was south-bound on US-59 (across from the Goodrich Truckstop). The driver suddenly decided to cut from the slow lane, across the fast lane to get to a crossover but failed to yield to an 18 wheeler that was also in the fast lane. The 18 wheeler, driven by Mario Mustelier, 45, of Houston, slammed into the back half of the pickup, driven by 59 year old Oai Van Huyhn, also of Houston. The impact sent both vehicles into the center median. The 18 wheeler was fully loaded with 2x6 lumber and turned over on its side. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, Constable Marcello Rosario, and Troopers Dallas Johnson, Damon Zarate, Simon Mijares, and Nick Hatton with The Highway Patrol. Huyhn was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Mustelier was physically okay. One lane of traffic on the south-bound side of 59 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. Huyhn is likely facing a citation for changing lanes when unsafe. Both vehicles were recovered by Clifton Chevrolet out of Corrigan.
