Effective Reps ONLY?
The overall principle that will help increase your muscle mass is progressive overload. Progressive overload means lifting more weight over time within a given set or workout. You can also progress by increasing volume, which has been shown in research to help boost muscle growth. Mechanical tension is the most significant driver of muscle hypertrophy. If you only focus on "effective reps" while performing *Myo-reps*, you may end up reducing your overall training volume in most cases. Many studies have consistently shown that *Myo-reps* are more effective when they are added to your overall training volume rather than replacing it. The idea of "effective reps" is valuable—you should push close to failure—but you shouldn't sacrifice volume just to reach failure more frequently. It’s beneficial to incorporate intensifier techniques like *Myo-reps*, but they shouldn’t make up the majority of your workout.
