Bouncing reduces muscle mechanical tension and metabolic stress on the muscle, and is also more harsh on your joints. Controlled mechanical tension is the biggest driver of muscle mass and improving joint helth. Myself and other coaches that use this with their clients see better results and less injuries. Try barely tapping the weights together next time and you'll notice how much harder it is. Do that for a long time and see how much better your joints feel and, if inclined, see how much more you can grow your muscles.
