Are Autonomous Trucks the Future of Freight? Not So Fast.

Professional driver John Highely and I recently had an in-depth discussion about the future of autonomous trucks in the freight industry. Despite all the hype, we’re convinced this technology isn’t rolling out anytime soon.

Why? Because the challenges are immense. From navigating unpredictable road conditions to making real-time decisions in complex environments, trucking demands human intuition and skill—things no AI can fully replicate.

The more realistic future? Remote-controlled trucks operated by professional drivers, similar to the drones the military uses. These setups would still rely on human expertise while leveraging technology to increase efficiency and safety.

Here’s something to consider: Would you get on an autonomous airplane today? Most people wouldn’t. The stakes are just too high. So, why should trucking—an industry responsible for moving the lifeblood of our economy—be any different?

And don’t forget, those trucks will still need someone using the herd of BullSnot products to keep them clean and looking sharp on the road!

The road ahead may be tech-enabled, but it’ll still have humans in the driver’s seat—literally or virtually. What’s your take?
