Parkour Professional Shows Awesome Stunts Jumping On Rooftops

We have seen it on TV shows such as American Ninja Warrior as well as in movies like Casino Royale and The Bourne Ultimatum. If you’ve played Assassins Creed, you’ve even done it, virtually, at least. We are talking about parkour - the sport where you jump from buildings and vault over walls. Many men are attracted to parkour even if they’re not entirely sure what it is. It’s breathtaking to see someone move through an environment in ways we have never thought it was possible and it is beyond doubt inspiring to see how people push the very limits of the abilities of their bodies. What is more it looks like so much fun and it seems like an important skill to have should there be any zombie invasion.

The guy in this video has mastered this technique and this is what he says: ''I’m David Nelmes, 24. I’ve been training parkour for over 7 years and am a professional athlete in the sport. I practiced safely many times before trying these stunts, to ensure very little risk. The Dubai video was at the end of 2017. I managed to sneak into the building and found an unlocked door to the rooftop, about 80 floors up. I practiced the climb many times where it hangs over the rooftop safely before trying it over the drop.''

Parkour is all about moving through the environment efficiently and naturally. Parkour practitioners, who are often called traceurs (from the French for ‘to trace’), jump, climb, and vault over obstacles in their path. Their goal is to get from point A to point B as efficiently as possible.

However, there is a great difference between parkour and freerunning though they get used interchangeably. Parkour is simply about maneuvering through your environment efficiently using jumps, swings, and vaults while there is no need for flips, wall spins, and other acrobatics. With freerunning, efficiency is less of a concern, and you can throw in these types of cool-looking acrobatic movements as well. So when you’re watching videos of people doing flips and spins off walls, that’s freerunning; if they’re just jumping and vaulting over urban obstacles without acrobatics, they’re doing parkour.

Why practicing parkour is good? Because you treat the world like a giant playground and you feel like you are in a movie, running away from assassins and zombies. It fortifies the inner child in you and you can explore the limits of your body in an exciting way.

If you liked this video, you may have a look at the following one, where the guy hasn’t reached the level of professionalism like the guy in the previous video. Ready to pounce like a jungle animal and without thinking much, he just zooms off and the next moment we see him smashing on what it seems a low metal roof of some building. The jump looks painful since he crashes into the building in full force, similar to the movement when we swat an annoying fly on the wall. Luckily, he ended up being ok.
