"Make It With You," written by David Gates, was Bread's first entry onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1970 scoring their only no. 1 hit (Whitburn, 2013). Interesting that only Gates and drummer Mike Botts performed on the recording (F. Barcalounge, gretsch-talk, May 14, 2017). Although a number of artists have covered the song, only the Whispers were able to get their disco version onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart, but stalling at no. 94 in 1977 (Whitburn, 2013).
