3 Levels of Spine Mobility
Good mobility in the upper back (thoracic spine) helps prevent injuries, especially shoulder pain, by allowing the body to move properly. When the upper back is stiff, other areas like the shoulders and lower back have to work harder, which can lead to pain or injury. Thoracic and rational immobility can even effect posture and hip mechanics. Thoracic mobility helps:
-Helps the shoulder blades move well, making shoulder movements smoother.
-Reduces strain on the shoulders, especially during activities like reaching overhead.
-Promotes good posture and spreads out stress on the body evenly.
Improving upper back flexibility helps the body move better and reduces the risk of pain or injury. Do these carefully and slowly if you do- don't do them if you have a spinal injury or otherwise advised not to stress your spine.
