One of the greatest joys of a parent is being able to see their child take the first steps. It is a moment they cherish for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately no everyone’s childhood is as picture perfect as that, that doesn’t mean that the parents still won’t find a reason to be exhilarated by their child’s progress. Check out this story of a little boy diagnosed with a Spina Bifida merrily walking with the assistance of his cool crutches.

This footage occurred on August 1, 2018 in Kansas, USA and this is what the licensor had to say about it: "Roman is a two-year-old boy with a form of Spina Bifida called a Myelomeningocele. This condition causes him to have weakness in his legs. We were told that he would have minimal movement below his knees due to his lesion level. God has shown favor for this boy allowing him to actually start to walk assisted. First, with a walker and then in this video showing him starting to master his forearm crutches. He is excited and shares the great news with our puppy, Maggie. Roman's story is especially special because his Mom had a fetal repair of his lesion in utero. That means at 25 weeks gestation they went in and did surgery and fixed his back and sewed her back up and kept her pregnant for three more months and then she had a second C-section at 36 weeks and 4 days. His dad is also a chiropractor who specializes in pediatrics which has helped him get tremendous results with chiropractic care. The reason it is important for us to share this video is because the majority of children with his diagnoses are terminated before birth. We wanted to show the world how great God is and how a child with Spina Bifida can live a happy life. We have gotten so many responses from parents of children with Spina Bifida that are so grateful that we were able to give them hope."

A renowned pediatrician says that children begin to stand up by themselves without any support at 9-12 months. There are also fully healthy babies that begin to stand up later than their peers if they are calm by nature or still have an excess of the baby fat.

Even if the child learns how to get up, sitting back safely is not still in the digest repertoire. This is why babies use the opportunity, when they finally managed to get up, to stay up as long as possible and then fall down bottom first on the floor tired and cranky. If you leave the child without any support at this phase, they will soon forget about their fatigue and repeat the process again and again.

After a while, the child soon learns to drop down gently from a standing position. Very soon the little one will see that he or she can make steps just for the sake of support. Gradually, the baby will let go of one hand and use the other only for support. This is how the baby learns to walk and graduates from a baby into a toddler.
