The Catholics lost their taxation/tithes, from the Protestants. The roundtable of Knights, passed a decree that no one but the Pope could interpret Bible readings, thus the people were required to relinquish theiir Bibles. They imprisoned anyone found reading it. The Queen's enemies were sent to arrest her. She had decreed, as Queen, that her inner sanctum was outside the realm of Catholic Rule/Control. Queen Elizabeth I, defied the Vatican.
