  • Interesting podcast, but I disagree with Robyn's angle on Canadian History. Canada was founded on Martyrs and Saints ... the Jesuit Missionaries and Martyrs, Marie of the Incarnation, Bishop Laval, Catherine de St. Augustin, Marguerite Bourgeoys, Margarite d'Youville and many, many more ... and even many of our secular founders such as Champlain, Jeanne Mance, and Paul de Chomedey, Sieur de Maisonneuve, among many others, had a profound religious motivation and desire for virtue and holiness at the cost of immense self-sacrifice. Yes, even then there were wicked people trying to corrupt customs, but early Canadian history is fascinating, heroic and full of beautiful ideals and role models that can inspire us today. One further note: In Our Lady's apparations at Quito, Ecuador (the messages of Our Mother of Good Success), Akita, and Fatima, among others, these times we live in were spoken of with detail (and horror), but Our Lady declared, firmly, that, after these tribulations: "In the End, My Immaculate Heart will Triumph!". Through Her apparitions, God declared the victory of good over evil, either because men, hitting rock bottom, will convert, or through Divine Intervention. With God's grace! Let us persevere joyfully, trusting that we are NEVER alone, even when, as Robyn described, we feel isolated, and attacked on all sides. Viva Christo Rei! PS England was never culturally homogenous either ... Britons, Picts, Celts, Saxons, Norse, Normans ... and so on ... they would never have considered themselves all the same, though all white.
