The Story of the Prodigal Son Sermon and Devotional. This comes from the Emotionally Healthy Relationship Day by Day Devotional by Peter Scazzero. This is one of the best devotionals i own. He will go over some thoughts by Henri Nouwen on the subject. We will cover the parable of the prodigal son meaning in this video. The main point of this parable is that the older brother and the prodigal son are both lost. When ever we wonder from the love of the father we are lost. Henry Nouwen states "The lostness of the elder son is much harder to identify. All all he did all the things right". But we know that the elder son doesn't have the right heart posture. He states "There are many elder sons and daughters who are lost while still at home". This lostness can be shown as the elder brother being bitter, judgmental, complaining, jealous, and proud. I know that i can sometimes identify more with the prodigal son at times. And at times i can identify with the elder brother. This devotional offer us a reminder to return home to the love of the father. To let go of everything and everyone that might hold us back. I use Rembrandt Prodigal Son Painting in the video to add a devotional aspect to this. In this video we review the parable of the prodigal son.
