Scientists at MIT have developed technology that uses laser beams to send audible messages, music, or other sounds directly to a specific person's ear—from a distance. But what happens if this technology is weaponized? Whistleblowers have come out saying that they were victims of so-called Havana Syndrome. U.S. diplomats, intelligence officials, and military members who were stationed in overseas locations began to experience an onset of symptoms associated with a localized, loud sound they perceived, followed by chronic symptoms that lasted for months, such as balance and cognitive problems, insomnia, and headaches.
