Summary:
We have seen that our sufferings for Christ will soon end, and we will be delivered along with creation into the glorious liberty of the sons of God. Till then, we groan in our bodies as we patiently wait for our hope: the adoption or redemption of our body. As we suffer, we pray, seeking the Lord’s will. The Spirit intercedes on our behalf, causing everything to work together for good. This intercession itself helps define the meaning of predestination, as the Church largely misunderstands it. Today, we examine predestination.

Foreknow: προγινώσκω (prog-in-oce’-ko) - to have knowledge before hand
to foreknow
of those whom God elected to salvation

Predestinate: προορίζω (pro-or-id’-zo) - to predetermine, decide beforehand
in the NT of God decreeing from eternity
to foreordain, appoint beforehand

Takeaway:
Don’t get caught up in the intellectualism of Calvinism. You may fall prey to the ideology that you are special, God chose you, and you had no choice in the matter. You’re the elect, and God predestinated you unto salvation. This thinking is arrogant because it doesn’t permit you to choose, of your own free will, to humbly seek the Lord and call upon Christ to save you. A Calvinist once told me, “Some men are better than others.” He meant that some were worthy to be the elect, and some were not. This statement is a lie. God will have all men to be saved! He is not willing that any should perish. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ today!
