Maintaining one’s household is not the job of just one member. Everybody needs to keep up their role - cooking the meals, doing the laundry, washing the dishes, cleaning the place, even taking out the trash. Sure, when it comes to cooking, not everyone can do it, but if old enough, even kids can fill up the laundry machine and empty it, not to mention taking the garbage to its designated place. But then, there are folks who can even train their own dogs to help out around the house. And when it comes to pleasing the alpha, every dog would be more than happy to help out, since that means a nice, happy praise, a scratch on the head, perhaps even a delicious treat!

Take Dunkin here, for example. The thoughtful pooch loves his owner and would love nothing more than to help her out. We don’t know if he helps around the house for the rest of the chores, but when it comes to taking out the trash, he is always ready to go!

“Get it, Dunkin, get it!” she tells her helpful pup and he doesn’t even think twice. Dunkin runs over to the garbage bags, grabs one and runs over to the woman, tail wagging all the way. It seems that Dunkin finds this activity to be fun, sort of like fetch, only it smells kind of funny.

He grabs the smaller, lighter bag first and drops it on command, right where it should be. She then tells him to go and fetch the other, bigger one. Now, this is a challenge since it is almost as big as the dog. He does drop it a few times, but that does not dissuade our hero from doing his chore. In the end, Dunkin does get his “good boy” and with that smile on his gorgeous silver face, we know for a fact that he has done a really good job.

Some dogs take this a step further and actually help their owner select the trash for recycling - paper, plastic, glass, organics. These two really know how to do it, waiting for their owner to give them command while they sit by the trash can. She tells them to “clean up” and they do not even blink; right away, they start picking up the trash, one by one, and toss it into the garbage.

And then, there are dogs that just want to get into the trash. Like, literally inside, head and legs through the lid. The only problem is, now Jasper can’t get out.

Who said that pets can't help with your household chores? They are quite smart and also you can teach them to help you with all kinds of tasks around the house. We are sure they will more than happy to help with your chores if you give them a treat. Imagine you come home after a hard day's work and you see a clean house or the garbage out. Dogs are simply the best!
