Ghosts in the Machine Orchestra (G.I.T.M.O.) is proud to present our debut single and accompanying music video, 'Biderman's Chart of Coercion.' The chart, first developed in 1957 by Albert Biderman, a social scientist with the US Air Force (first published in a 1957 issue of The Bulletin of the New York Academy of Medicine) illustrates Communist Chinese and Korean coercive methods for forcing individual compliance. The chart lists eight chronological general methods of torture that will psychologically break an individual. In a 1973 report on torture, Amnesty International stated that Biderman’s Chart of Coercion contained the "universal tools of torture and coercion." Albert D. Biderman's work can be found in the out-of-print books The Manipulation of Human Behavior (©1961) as well as March To Calumny (©1963).
