Wed. 8-20-25 Title: "The Fall of Babel & the Rise of Abraham". Genesis 11-12Weekly Live Streams
C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
Mankind is in natural rebellion against God. In his pride he will do everything he can to live independently from God. Babel - means confusion! So God confused their languages to contain their sin.
So in God's plan He raises a man - Abraham to start a nation by which Jesus the Messiah will save the world from its rebellion and sin!

C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
It's pretty amazing to see all the various reactions to preaching Jesus resurrection from the dead! It's powerful because if He is alive that means His Word is Truth! And, we will one day be accountable to Him for our lives! So, when people heard it in Acts 17 they either rioted, caused division, some procrastinated, some investigated, some rejected, and some believed. Wow - Jesus is a very polarizing figure! I choose to bow my knee and believe for He is Risen Indeed!

Feb. 5, 2025 - "The Importance of Teachability" - Acts 18
C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
We learn so much from Apollos. A highly talented man, who was "mighty in the scriptures". He had it all: intelligence, speaking ability, charisma, persuasiveness, great background, great education. That is not what made him great - it was his teachableness! He was humble, He did not let pride interfere with receiving further instruction. His greatness came from his teachableness!

Feb. 19, 2025 - "Paul's Ministry in Ephesus" - Acts 19
C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
Ephesus, that ancient city on the coast of Turkey! Paul spent most of his ministry there in that City. It was a spiritual hub for the gospel as well as a commercial hub. He meets some disciples and asks them a most curious question that we all need to answer; God uses him to teach 4 hours per day in the school of Tyrannus; God does some unusual miracles through him; and then if that is not enough a riot breaks out

Feb. 26, 2025 - "Message to Spiritual Leaders" - Acts 20
C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
This last portion of Acts 20 is Paul discussing important tasks and responsibilities for Pastor and Elders of Churches. He encourages them and warns them of the dangers that occurs against church and from within churches. The first thing Leaders must always remember is to "Take Heed to themselves". There is the importance of self-care, making sure our own walk and relationship with our Lord is solid. The remaining warning has to with guarding the flock of God from those who come up from within it it to draw others away from it to themselves.

March 5, 2025 - "Discerning Prophecies Properly" - Acts 21
C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
Paul was given prophecies that he was headed into trouble as he traveled to Jerusalem. This is a controversy in the Book of Acts about this matter. We believe it was certainly God's will for the Apostle to continue to go to Jerusalem. Was he right or wrong to go based on these prophecies? Those who hear and give prophecies must be very careful not to bring our own baggage and thus mar what God is revealing...tonight we'll talk about it.

March 12, 2025 - "The Power of Your Testimony" - Acts 22
C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
People may argue with your theology, your church, your beliefs, but they cannot argue with your personal experience with Jesus Christ. Your testimony - how you came to faith in Christ. That is your salvation experience: what your life was like BEFORE you followed Jesus; how you came to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and what you life is like AFTER He saved you and entered into your heart.

C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
Paul's visit to Jerusalem turned into a disaster! Could his ministry be finished? Is he done? Everything went sideways on him. He is now bound in custody, no longer free. Could he have missed God's perfect will? What a disaster! NOPE! God was pleased with it all! God's hand was in it all! How important it is that we hear from the Lord during those times in life when all seems to be lost, broken, defeated, and failed. Only God knows the truth of the matter and God says, I'm pleased, I have a plan, and My Presence is with you!"

Wed. 3-26-25 "Preaching to a Politician" Acts 24
C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
Sometimes we hear pastors say that "politics should stay out of the pulpit". Well, I disagree. In Acts we see the Apostle speak to lots of different politicians. In this passage the Apostle speaks very precisely in his defense of accusations then he shares the truth with Felix the Roman governor. It is a very interesting what he will tell him. It is certainly not "seeker sensitive". He lays his moral and spiritual condition on the line very firmly.

He commission by God was to turn people from the Power of Satan to God, from Darkness to Light! To bring forgivness of sins through faith in Jesus! C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
Description: This is not just any 'storm'! The Apostle and the crew were about to die! This was the 'Perfect Storm'! This was a hurricane of intense magnitude! Yet, all under the soveriegn hand of the Almighty! Hard to believe that God would guide into a storm....but he does and it can be a nightmare! Words cannot really comfort from this kind of storm! It is more than a "trial" or "hardship". This is the Death Storm. Ever been there? No words can bring comfort in this kind of storm - except to know - God is with you, and you will make it through to the other side of it.

Wed. 4-30-25 Title: "Christian Superstition" - Acts 28
C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
Description: "Christian Superstition"? What? Yep, its an oxymoron. We chose that title because of a divisive trend among the more "Charasmaniac" type of Christians in the Church. Paul's response to the snake bite is normal, but listen to the response of the natives of Malta. They spiritualize it! Its pagan superstition! How many Christians do that concerning supposed "signs" in their daily lives! They think that God is giving them a sign when some unusual event happens to them. Be careful not to read into life's events some "spiritual sign from God" - this is not necessarily some "sign from God" or the Holy Spirit - this kind of thinking is "Christian superstition". Its a twisted sort of mysticism all in the name of the Holy Spirit. It's not Charismatic --- it's Charismania!

God's Providence During Difficulty - Acts 28
C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
During times of difficulty we can often wonder if God has forsaken us. He hasn't. His gaurdianship continues, His promises do not fail, He will guide us to our end haven. The Apostle finally arrives in Rome just as God has promised. It was a rough ride but he got there. God does not promise an easy path but one that will ultimately lead to exactly where he wants us. Title: "In the Beginning" Genesis 1
Description: The Book of Genesis is the book of beginnings; the beginning of creation, mankind; the beginning of sin and death; the beginning of the Jewish nation and more. It answers the deepest philosophical questions of life: Why is there so much pain and suffering in the world, why do people die, why is there such cruelty, who are we... Genesis is 1 of the 5 most important books in the Bible. It speaks of our origins and how things began in the first place, and how we got to where we are and our need for a Savior to rescue mankind from its hopeless doomed condition.

Ever heard of those things called "Users Manual", ya know those things that come with our machines that we never read? Well, the humans also come with a 'Users Manual' - its called 'The Holy Bible'. Here is Genesis 1-3 we find out how we were originally designed and how it broke down. The Rest of the Bible is how it gets fixed. God made man out of the dust of the earth in HIS IMAGE - we were not made out of Monkey's or Apes or ooze or goo! You are made in God's image - and that makes you priceless!

Wed. 6-4-25 Title: The Fall of Man - Genesis 3
C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
This chapter is the ultimate answer to the way the world is and all it's evils. This one chapter answers the question of why we die, why there is pain and suffering in the world, why there is sickness and disease and so much more. The universe was created in perfect harmony but now mankind ushers in a crisis. A quantum shift occurs; from order to chaos, from life to death, from peace to turmoil. Paradise is now lost. The rest of the Bible is all about God's rescue operation. To bring man back to Himself. To reverse the curse. To regain paradise again. It is called the "Scarlet thread of redemption".

Wed. 6-18-25 Title: Genesis 4-5 - Cain & Abel
C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
Description: The famous story of Cain and Abel is a thread throughout the Bible. There are the "Cains" who want to be justified before God by their own works; and the "Abel's" who follow God's way of justification by faith through Jesus. There is man's way of self-righteousness and God's way through faith in the sacrifice of His Son. Then there are those who mix them both together, a co-mingling of truth and error. Lord protect us from relying on ourselves for salvation, but on you only.

Wed. 7-16-25 "The Nephilim" Gen. 6
C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
Genesis 6 is controversial and scholars are divided on what/who "The Sons of God" are. How one interprets "Son's of God" determines the meaning of the Nephilim. The Nephilim means "The Fallen Ones" in Hebrew. The Sons of God interpretation has 3 possibilities: 1) Descendants of Seth in Ch. 5. 2) Kings or Despots of old 3) Angels or, 4) Demon possessed humans. We'll discuss the options. But, it would seem the most evidence lies with options 3 and 4. There was some kind of illicit interaction between Fallen Angels and Humanity that led to God needing to destroy every living thing on the earth. There "appears" to be an adulteration of the human genome; a deliberate polluting or tainting of the human race's genetics. This led to God's destroying it and starting over with the untainted gene pool with Noah's family?? interesting ideas. Vaccine Technology uses genetic samples from babies in the abortion process. When the human genome is manipulated - it led to world wide catastrophe then - will it lead to world wide catastrophe now?Sun 10a , Wed 6:30p

Wed. 7-30-25 "Noah and the Great Flood" - Gen.6-8
C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
These chapters discuss this great catastrophe that occurred in the ancient world. Is the story of Noah a myth, a legend, made up? Did God really flood the whole world? Is there evidence to support such a claim? This section of scripture we'll answer those questions and also learn from the Great example Noah lived for us to follow. He was a man who 1) Walked with God, 2) Worked for God, 3) Worshiped God. He is honored in the New Testament for his act of faith in building the ark. He believed God and then acted on it. He prepared for the future by obeying God in the present. Good wisdom!

C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
What kind of example or model should churches seek to emulate? Many churches have different styles and approaches. God has given a foundational blueprint which every Biblical Church should follow. There are 4 basic pillars every Church would do well to implement. The pillars are:
1. Bible Teaching
2. Fellowship
3. Breaking Bread (Communion)
4. Prayer
They are like 4 wheels on the Christian bus. When one of those tires goes flat, the Christian life will swerve off the road and crash. We want each of those 4 wheels to be fully inflated so the Christian bus can carry as many people to heaven as possible!

C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
We continue to look at the Ministry of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Church. It is the Spirit of God through the people of God Who builds the House of God to the Glory of God. When we yield by faith to the power of the Holy Spirit, He gives us qualities and enhancements to the God-given abilities within us to help others become mature in Christ. The Spiritual gifts are found in the Bible - they can be abused and misused. We seek to learn the proper exercise thereof.

Revival is when the Bible study, Bible teaching, Bible exposition becomes the great passion in a person's life! Without a renewed love for the Scriptures, any interest in spiritual things is just a passing moment that will soon fade. It is the Word of God that will outlast any Church movement phase. All revivals in the past were started by a passion for the Word of God! Dear Lord, send us revival!

Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
American Christianity has, for some reason, neglected the instructions on God’s plan for a healthy life. God created us in mind, spirit, and body, so he cares about out physical well-being. We are stewards over our bodies. It takes some education and learning to know how to care for our bodies well. It doesn’t always have to be cumbersome. If we develop some good daily habits, then we can enjoy a healthier life. If we take care of our bodies, our bodies will take care of us. It is time we learn to take control of our own health instead of submitting to the now-discredited medical establishment.

God has a plan for your life. You are here in your position in life, "For such a time as this." There are no accidents in your life because you belong to the Lord Jesus. God is working out His sovereign, providential plan. The book of Esther is stunning in that it never mentions "God" in the book, yet every line has the fingerprint of God in it! God used Esther to save the Jewish people – this is one of the most amazing books in the Bible! God will always save the Jewish people. World, beware! We often develop that same attitude in our calling to serve the Lord. God gave a word through the prophet to "not despise the days of small things," and that the work is accomplished "not by might, nor by power, buy by My Spirit." Wonderful encouragement for all of us. God is often pleased in the small things! We must depend upon His Spirit to empower us to do His Work in His Power!

August 30, 2023 - "Gog: Is It Russia Or the Antichrist?" - Ezekiel 37-39
C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
Ezekiel 37-39 are the most popular chapters in the book of Ezekiel because of the view that Gog and Magog refer to a coalition of nations led by Russia invading Israel. This is one of those teachings in the Bible where there is great latitude for disagreement, and still ability to be in perfect harmony with fellow believers. Nowhere in the New Testament does it speak of Russia invading Israel as a sign of the End Times. There are many, many other signs of the times that are more relevant than Russia’s involvement in the Middle East. We have the word of Jesus to 'Be Ready'! If we need to look to Russia’s military movements to know we are near the rapture, then we are in big trouble. I think the Word of Jesus to 'Be Ready' is a sufficient enough reason to be ready!

Egypt was so proud in all they built. Egyptian monuments and water canals were indeed a marvel in the ancient world. For centuries, they ruled the world and were the envy of the world! But their pride was their downfall. The Lord used another wicked nation to judge that wicked nation. It happens… God uses an evil nation as His instrument of judgement on other wicked nations. It's best if we learn from this example and humble ourselves in the sight of the Almighty.

These chapters outline the fall of the ancient Phoenician city of Tyre on the coast of the Mediterranean in modern-day Lebanon. The people of Tyre were a seafaring people, and tremendous wealth was accumulated by them through sea trading routes. In Ezekiel 28, God addresses the power behind this most prosperous cities of the ancient world. God moves from the material to the spiritual power of Satan himself. This will be a fascinating discussion. Satan was a worship leader, a powerful angel, he is created, he was adorned with beauty, but fell because of his pride! Pride is the mother of all sins! It is what turned angels into devils.

July 26, 2023 - "When God Hurts" - Ezekiel 24-26
C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
We often think that our sin does not affect anyone else - but it does, it hurts God. God could think of no better way to explain what the sin of His people was doing to Him, so God explained the pain as if it was a husband's wife committing adultery, or if a couple that is in great love of each other and the wife dies. The pain can be unbearable. This is the pain God was feeling when His own people turned to sin and the lust of the flesh to worship all kinds of lusts – it tore God’s heart apart, like a spouse that dies. Our sin has far-reaching effects, let's confess our sins and turn from them.

Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
The country was in moral and spiritual decline. It was on a fast-track to self-destruction, it was only a matter of time. God was warning the people of the impending doom because of their transgressions and sin. They continued to ignore the Lord. So, God was looking for someone to pray, to interceded, to “stand in the gap” and pray on behalf of the land so that God’s hand of judgement would be put on pause. But God found no one! May we always continue to pray for those in our life that reject the Lord, that God would have mercy upon them and they repent.

The people had consistently rebelled against God and His Word again and again for years upon years. Finally, God reaches a breaking point and says, "If sin and wickedness is what you want, then sin and wickedness is what you shall have." And then God gives them over to be destroyed by their own wickedness. God lets them drown in their own sinful filth. Sound like America?

C
Calvary Chapel of the Canyons
It is human nature to “blame-shift”, to blame others for our own problems. It is not only the root paradigm of Marxist ideologies, it is part of fallen human nature to avoid personal responsibility and blame others for our misfortunes. Adam and Eve blamed the serpent and ultimately blamed God for the consequences of their poor choice. Victimhood is a part of the American culture now. But God says it is wrong, each person will be accountable not for the actions of others but are accountable and responsible for their own actions. We have to own up to the fact that we choose to obey or disobey God at any time, and free ourselves from the cycle of sin and abuse from our family and culture.

When we do not know the reasons for God’s judgment, we can be tempted to think that God is too harsh when He judges a person or people. In this section, the Lord details the vile, filthy, horrific human depravity that the people would not turn from. God exposes their debauchery and sin so that when God judges it in a strong way, all of heaven and earth will shout out loud, “God, you are Righteous!” We will all then say, ‘It's about time the wicked are stopped!”

That is what we all need, we need a new heart, a new spirit! A heart that has God’s law deeply engraved in it, so that we WANT to do His will, we WANT to obey the law of God. A heart that hates sin and loves God’s Word. It’s called “being Born-Again”!

At the time of the Babylonian invasion, God was bringing great judgement on Jerusalem because of their perversion and rebellion against God. But, there is always a remnant that are faithful in obedience to the Lord. The Lord preserved them from the destruction by putting a MARK on their foreheads! This mark was the shape of a cross! Amazing! Here is another foreshadowing of the completed work of Jesus on the cross of Calvary. He saves and preserves those who put their faith in Jesus from the coming wrath of God upon this world, both in this life and in the next!

We read so much about the minute detail of how God will discipline His people because they forsook Him and turned to other religions. It's one thing to have never know the Lord and reject Him, that’s tragic. It's quite another to have known the Lord and then to forsake Him by neglecting or no longer listen to Him, that’s devastating! That rejecting crushes God! Why? Because of Love! He loves you so supremely that any kind of avoidance or attention to other things hurts Him just as it would hurt you if someone you loved turned away from you.

Entire chapters in the Bible discuss this time period in history called the Great Tribulation. It’s a time where God judges the world for its sin and rejection of Jesus. It is also the time where God, once again, begins to work with the Jewish nation as He did in the ancient times. The church is a separate group in the Bible, which is why it is not mentioned during that time period; we will be taken away by the Rapture before that time begins.

This is the most important prophecy in the Bible. It speaks of both the first and second comings of Jesus. A 7-year period of history is yet in the future. It begins when the Antichrist ratifies a 7-year peace treaty with the state of Israel. Jesus will then return at the end of that 7-year time span. The accuracy is astounding, but not surprising because God knows the end from the beginning and spoke of this so that we might have strong confidence that we can trust in, rely on, and live by every Word of God!

Lamentations is a book of five poems written by Jeremiah as he witnesses the 18-month-long military siege by the Babylonians. The famine, death, and destruction was horrifying! As we go through the book of Jeremiah, we will learn that what energized Jeremiah was the Living Word of God. The Word of God burned in Jeremiah, he had to speak it, he couldn’t resist, it burned inside of him.
