Bangladesh mob beats ex-PM Hasina's supporters on site of planned rally

Hundreds of activists in Bangladesh, armed with bamboo sticks, iron rods and pipes, on Thursday (August 15), assaulted supporters of the ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. She fled to neighbouring India by helicopter last week as student-led protests flooded Dhaka's streets in a dramatic end to her iron-fisted rule of 15 years.
