The changes outlined by Smith would also ensure the province respects “the right of individuals to legally acquire, keep and safely use firearms.” Smith says she believes law-abiding gun owners have been targeted by the federal government, and she hopes the changes will better protect farmers, ranchers, hunters and sports enthusiasts. The legislation would also declare that Albertans can’t be deprived of their property without due process of law and fair compensation. “This is a reaffirmation of your right to own and enjoy the property that you’ve worked so hard for,” said Smith. United Conservative Party members have been pushing Smith for the recognition of rights that go well beyond the Canadian Constitution and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, including around guns, parental rights and taxes. Smith’s announcement comes as she faces a party leadership review in early November. Alberta conservatives have been known to boot their own leaders from the top job, including former UCP premier Jason Kenney. The Ottawa Police Service are asking for Helen's dismissal or demotion as the penalty for her allegedly 'unlawful' conduct. Helen has been a police officer with the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) for over 20 years, dedicated to serving Ottawa and surrounding community with exemplary service. Although the Ottawa Police Association (OPA) dues are mandatory for all officers and civilians of the OPS, Helen has been denied legal funding by the OPA. The OPA has a duty to provide "fair representation" to all its members. As per the police officer's oath, Helen has a duty to serve and protect, hence with or without OPA's support, she has resolved to challenge the Discreditable Conduct charge before the police tribunal. Helen has already accrued over $80,000 in legal fees which she has paid out of her own pocket and depending on the length of her trial, those fees could exceed $150,000. Canada, has been decided in favour of the citizens who participated in the peaceful 2022 Freedom Convoy in Ottawa. The Justice Centre provided lawyers for these Canadians, who launched a court action within ten days of the Emergencies Act being invoked, and who sought a court declaration that the Emergencies Act was invoked without legal justification. The constitutional challenge to the invocation of the Emergencies Act was filed on behalf of four Canadians who had participated in the peaceful Freedom Convoy protest in Ottawa in January and February 2022. They are Jeremiah Jost, a 28-year-old contractor and volunteer firefighter from Alberta; Edward Cornell, a 64-year-old retired military veteran from New Brunswick; Rev. Harold Ristau from Ontario, a former Canadian Armed Forces chaplain and retired officer with Canadian Special Operations Forces Command; and Vincent Gircys, a retired, decorated member of the Ontario Provincial Police. The Emergencies Act was invoked on February 14, 2022, by the Federal Cabinet to shut down the Freedom Convoy protest. Each of the plaintiffs suffered significant harm during the militaristic police crackdown that began on February 18, 2022. Two of the applicants represented by the Justice Centre had their bank accounts frozen and seized, without judicial authorization or a review process, under laws that normally apply only to terrorists and enemy nations. Edward Cornell said his experience having his bank accounts seized was traumatic. “I broke no law, yet the government seized my accounts and froze my hard-earned money. I am not a criminal. I am not a terrorist. I am a retired Canadian military veteran who honourably served his country… I feel betrayed by my own government,” he added. The Justice Centre provided lawyers for the peaceful protest in 2022, and since that time has provided lawyers to defend Chris Barber, Tamara Lich and other Canadians facing unjust criminal charges. The Report was released during a virtual Hearing today. The Commissioners’ Report is based on the testimony of more than 300 members of the public and expert witnesses during 24 days of hearings in eight cities and additional virtual hearings. Commissioner Chairperson, Ken Drysdale, speaking on behalf of the Commissioners, expressed deep appreciation for the individuals and organizations who courageously came forward to share their experiences, expertise and perspectives. The independent, citizen-led, citizen-funded Inquiry was deliberately structured to be impartial, non- biased, free from political influence, with no funding from government and no large corporate funding. The report laments that although subpoenas were issued to 63 members of government, regulators and authorities urging them to testify, none appeared. The Commissioners Report describes profound damage done to the fabric of Canadian society and the nation. It documents heartbreaking and deeply shocking testimony from people who experienced adverse vaccine reactions, disruption of livelihoods and education, impaired mental health, reputational damage, professional discipline and censorship. Expert witnesses included doctors, scientists, lawyers, economists, teachers, psychologists, morticians, experts in risk management, public policy, emergency management, occupational health and safety, aviation safety, pharmacy, policing, and journalism. In his remarks during the Hearing, Commissioner Drysdale described how the widespread acceptance of stringent government lockdowns, which would have previously been deemed inconceivable, represents a remarkable shift within a mere three years. He added, “These testimonies provide irrefutable evidence that an unprecedented assault has been waged against the citizens of Canada. Not since World War II has the nation experienced such a devastating attack on its people.” Commissioner Drysdale asserted that, “The policy, legal, and health authority interventions into the lives of Canadians, our families, businesses, and communities were, and to a great extent remain, significant. In particular, these interventions have impacted the physical and mental health, civil liberties and fundamental freedoms, jobs and livelihoods, and overall social and economic well-being of nearly all Canadians.” Drysdale continued, “Special attention must be paid to the sinister role that the public and private broadcasters played in terrorizing the public and then merely acting as mouthpieces of the government who relentlessly pounded Canadians with 24/7 propaganda without questions. We have prepared specific recommendations concerning these institutions. But the wholesale abandonment of long held fundamental beliefs and even codified law was not the sole purview of the media. Many public and private bodies such as schools, medical providers and regulators, unions, justice and policing all failed Canadians. These institutions and individuals must also be held to account.” These are among the important Commissioners recommendations to address harms done and assist with future pandemic responses: • The current use of COVID-19 genetic vaccines in Canada that were authorized under the revised provisions of the Interim Order and the newly revised Food and Drug Regulations, should be stopped immediately. • A full judicial investigation of the process under which the COVID-19 vaccinations were authorized in Canada must be carried out. Criminal liability, if discovered, may be dealt with under existing Canadian law. • Conduct a thorough review of the Canadian courts’ handling of pandemic-related cases and their impact on the rule of law. Rebuild public confidence in the justice system by addressing concerns raised during the pandemic. • Examine and reform the extent of executive authority during emergencies, ensuring proper checks and balances to prevent unelected officials from making far-reaching decisions without accountability or oversight. • Establish a clear framework for the oversight of public health authorities’ decision-making processes during emergencies to balance public health needs with individual rights and freedoms. • Enact legislation that requires administrative bodies to demonstrate their expertise and rationale for decisions, particularly when those decisions infringe on individual and human rights. • Establish a clear framework for the oversight of public health authorities’ decision-making processes during emergencies to balance public health needs with individual rights and freedoms. • Conduct an independent, multidisciplinary inquiry into the governance of professional colleges, especially those governing medical professionals, to ensure transparency, independence, and accountability in their decision-making, and that activities of the colleges adhere to Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms. • Safeguard healthcare professionals’ freedom of expression while ensuring that they provide accurate and evidence-based information to the public. • Review the ability of regulators to interfere in the patient–practitioner relationship, ensuring that professional judgment remains independent and guided by the best interests of the patient, including privacy protection of patient medical information. • The government should review labour laws to ensure that they provide adequate protection to both unionized and non-unionized employees during health emergencies like the pandemic. This should include mechanisms for addressing workplace issues related to mandates and safety concerns. • Ensure that in-person learning remains the primary mode of education, even during public health crises. Remote learning should only be used as a last resort and for a limited duration, and in conjunction with parental consultation. • Develop strategies to support vulnerable populations, such as the homeless, those struggling with addiction, and victims of domestic abuse, during crises. Ensure that access to essential services is maintained. • Canada should reinforce the importance of Informed Consent, especially in the context of medical treatments like vaccines. In the wide-ranging interview published Thursday titled “Truckers on the Frontlines of Freedom,” Lich joined Peterson and his wife Tammy to dissect the events “leading up to, during, and after the internationally recognized Canadian Freedom Convoy, which sought to publicize and end ridiculous COVID mandates as they heavily affected the multi-national trucking industry.” In the interview, Lich, born in Saskatchewan but now a resident of Alberta, explained to Peterson that she was largely apolitical until the industry in which she worked -- Alberta’s oil and gas sector -- began to be throttled by so-called “climate change” policies implemented by the federal government throughout the late 2010s. In particular, Lich outlined to Peterson that she became angered with two federal Liberal Party policies introduced in Parliament in 2017 and 2018, called Bill C-48, Oil Tanker Moratorium Act, and Bill C-69, Impact Assessment Act and Canadian Energy Regulator Act, respectively. As a result of these policies and others, Lich, taking inspiration from the “yellow vests” protest in France in 2018, started a Canadian version of the movement, which included forming a convoy of trucks to protest in a variety of locations in the western half of the nation. Lich also explained to Peterson that it was around this time that she became involved with “Wexit,” a play on words of the U.K.’s Brexit movement, which saw disgruntled Canadians in the natural resource heavy western provinces band together to form a political party in opposition to federal government policies. Later in the interview, Lich broke down how after the COVID-19 so-called pandemic had begun she started to do her own research about the virus and the associated vaccines, listening to experts such as Dr. Byram Bridle, Dr. Peter McCullough, Dr. Robert Malone and others, and began to doubt the credibility of the government’s approach to managing the virus, which in Canada included lockdowns, mask mandates and vaccine passports among other measures. Then, in January 2022, Lich recalls coming across Canadian truck driver Chris Barber, who was advocating on social media for a trucker-related protest after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau mandated that those driving across the U.S.-Canada border, including truckers, would have to be vaccinated against COVID or subject themselves to a 14-day quarantine every time they reentered the country. Lich said that her and the other organizers then started a GoFundMe page and a website for the Freedom Convoy, with the intent of encouraging truckers to drive to the nation’s capital of Ottawa and park their vehicles in protest of the various COVID-era mandates. Lich told Peterson that “miraculously” the movement took off on social media and word of mouth, and that despite the massive turnout, it only took “10 days” to organize. For the remainder of the interview, Lich told Peterson about the immense success of the Freedom Convoy, the Trudeau government’s heavy-handed response -- which included invoking the never-before-used Emergencies Act to freeze the bank accounts of the organizers and anyone who had financially contributed to the movement, in addition to arresting Lich and the other organizers -- and her experience being in jail for over 45 days on mischief charges stemming from her role in the movement. One of my accounts was shut down (because I had the effrontery to sign in from Alberta — an event too unexpected for the bank’s security systems). I was placed on hold interminably, subjected all the while to the corporate world’s idea of music (to soothe me). I was then offered a call-back, which I duly received, 45 minutes later. Then I was placed on hold again, and again, and again. This all occurred after my patience had already been exhausted in the aftermath of trying to fly in Canada. Like so many Canadians, I have been unable to see many of the people I love and who are tolerant enough to return the sentiment for nearly two years. Lockdowns. Restrictions. Limits on personal and social gatherings. Precautions. Precautions. Precautions. But everything had opened enough, in principle, so flights for such purposes were — in principle — once again possible. My wife and I therefore took the opportunity on the last day of 2021 to fly first to Comox, British Columbia, and then, several days later, to our joint hometown of Fairview, Alberta. However, the airline we had arranged our flights with cancelled/delayed all six flights we had scheduled. Furthermore, they had no staff available in one entire wing of Edmonton’s airport. This made rescheduling prohibitively difficult. We were delayed by one full day travelling to British Columbia, and then another day travelling to Alberta (and there were further delays on our way home to Toronto). This took quite a chunk out of an eight-day trip. All this from an airline that not so long ago was a model of efficiency. Like most people in Canada, and in the broader Western world, my wife and I are accustomed to systems that work. When we booked flights in the past, with rare exceptions, we arrived safely and on time. When we used our banking systems, online, we gained access to our accounts. When we had to phone security, because of a log-in problem, we were able to talk to someone who was able to help. And, because we were spoiled Westerners, we expected that such would always and consistently be the case. Why? Because, by and large, our systems worked. Miraculously well. The power (and the heat — it’s forty below here in northern Alberta, and has been for three weeks) always worked. Planes took off and landed on time. Banks were open and effective and honest. But there are empty shelves in the grocery stores here in Fairview. The supply chain that provides our food — just in time — are severely stressed. While I was here, I spoke with a local restaurateur who operates the pizza place I worked in forty years ago. She is barely hanging on. This is true of most local businesses. I was on the phone for three hours trying to sort out a minor banking issue, after being delayed for a full day while flying, after having been delayed in a similar way only four days before. And, because I am an entitled Westerner, accustomed to my privileges, I got whiny about it. I have a banker that takes care of my affairs, and I sent him and his associate a string of complaints about the service I was receiving. They wrote back, apologetically, and told me that they’re barely able to function with the COVID restrictions, the attendant staff shortages (also caused by illness) and their inability to attract new employees — a problem besetting many industries at the moment. I am not accustomed to feeling particularly sympathetic for the travails of large, successful enterprises: banks, airlines, utilities and the like. I expect a certain standard of service, so that I can conduct my own affairs effectively, and am impatient when delays unnecessary in the normal course of things emerge. The letter from the bank stopped me and made me think, however. It wasn’t just the bank. It was also the airline. It was the empty shelves in the grocery store in northern Alberta. It was the daughter of the man I once worked for as a cook, back when I was a teenager. It was the shopkeepers and small business-people I have spoken with on this trip. We are pushing the complex systems upon which we depend and which are miraculously effective and efficient in their often thankless operation to their breaking point. Can you think of anything more unlikely than the fact that we can get instant trouble-free access to our money online, using systems that are virtually graft- and corruption-free? Just imagine how much work, trust and efficiency was and is necessary to make that a reality. Can you think of anything more unlikely than fast, reliable and inexpensive jet air travel, nationally and internationally, in absolute safety? Or the constant provision of almost every consumer good imaginable, in the midst of plentiful, varied and inexpensive food? These systems are now shaking. We’re compromising them seriously with this unending and unpredictable stream of restrictions, lockdowns, regulations and curfews. We’re also undermining our entire monetary system, with the provision of unending largesse from government coffers, to ease the stress of the COVID response. We’re playing with fire. We’ve demolished two Christmas seasons in a row. Life is short. These are rare occasions. We’re stopping kids from attending school. We’re sowing mistrust in our institutions in a seriously dangerous manner. We’re frightening people to make them comply. We’re producing bureaucratic institutions that hypothetically hold public health in the highest regard, but subordinating all our properly political institutions to that end, because we lack leadership, and rely on ultimately unreliable opinion polls to govern broadscale political policy. I’ve never seen breakdown in institutional trust on this scale before in my lifetime. I was recently in Nashville, Tennessee. No lockdowns. No masks. No COVID regulations to speak of. People are going about their lives. Why can that be the case in Tennessee (and in other U.S. states, such as Florida) when there are curfews (curfews!) in Quebec, two years after the pandemic started, with a vaccination rate of nearly 80 per cent? When BC is still limiting social gatherings? When we are putting tremendous and unsustainable strain on all the complex systems that have served us so well, and made us so comfortable, in the midst of the troubles of our lives? The cure has become worse than the disease. I have spoken with senior advisors to provincial governments in Canada. There is no end game in sight. The idea that Canadian policy is or should be governed “by the science” is not only not true, it’s also not possible, as there is no simple pathway from the facts of science to the complexities of policy. We are deciding, by opinion poll, to live in fear, and to become increasingly authoritarian in response to that fear. That’s a danger, too, and it’s increasingly real. How long are we going to flail about, hiding behind our masks, afraid to send our children (who are in no danger more serious than risk of the flu) to school, charging university students full tuition for tenth-rate online “education,” pitting family member against family member over vaccine policy and, most seriously, compromising the great economic engine upon which our health also depends? Until we decide not to. There are no risk-free paths forward. There is only one risk, or another. Pick your poison: that’s the choice life often offers. I am weary of living under the increasingly authoritarian dictates of a polity hyper-concerned with one risk, and oblivious to all others. And things are shaking around us. Enough, Canadians. Enough, Canadian politicos. Enough masks. Enough social gathering limitations. Enough restaurant closures. Enough undermining of social trust. Make the bloody vaccines available to those who want them. Quit using force to ensure compliance on the part of those who don’t. Some of the latter might be crazy but, by and large, they are no crazier than the rest of us. Set a date. Open the damn country back up, before we wreck something we can’t fix. Time for some courage. Open The Damn Country Back Up, Before Canadians Wreck Something We Can’t Fix By Jordan Peterson National Post January 10, 2022 https://sunfellow.com/jordan-peterson-open-the-damn-country-back-up-before-canadians-wreck-something-we-cant-fix/ I spent more than three hours on the phone this weekend trying to get through to the online security department of one of Canada’s major banks. One of my accounts was shut down (because I had the effrontery to sign in from Alberta — an event too unexpected for the bank’s security systems). I was placed on hold interminably, subjected all the while to the corporate world’s idea of music (to soothe me). I was then offered a call-back, which I duly received, 45 minutes later. Then I was placed on hold again, and again, and again. This all occurred after my patience had already been exhausted in the aftermath of trying to fly in Canada. Like so many Canadians, I have been unable to see many of the people I love and who are tolerant enough to return the sentiment for nearly two years. Lockdowns. Restrictions. Limits on personal and social gatherings. Precautions. Precautions. Precautions. But everything had opened enough, in principle, so flights for such purposes were — in principle — once again possible. My wife and I therefore took the opportunity on the last day of 2021 to fly first to Comox, British Columbia, and then, several days later, to our joint hometown of Fairview, Alberta. However, the airline we had arranged our flights with cancelled/delayed all six flights we had scheduled. Furthermore, they had no staff available in one entire wing of Edmonton’s airport. This made rescheduling prohibitively difficult. We were delayed by one full day travelling to British Columbia, and then another day travelling to Alberta (and there were further delays on our way home to Toronto). This took quite a chunk out of an eight-day trip. All this from an airline that not so long ago was a model of efficiency. Like most people in Canada, and in the broader Western world, my wife and I are accustomed to systems that work. When we booked flights in the past, with rare exceptions, we arrived safely and on time. When we used our banking systems, online, we gained access to our accounts. When we had to phone security, because of a log-in problem, we were able to talk to someone who was able to help. And, because we were spoiled Westerners, we expected that such would always and consistently be the case. Why? Because, by and large, our systems worked. Miraculously well. The power (and the heat — it’s forty below here in northern Alberta, and has been for three weeks) always worked. Planes took off and landed on time. Banks were open and effective and honest. But there are empty shelves in the grocery stores here in Fairview. The supply chain that provides our food — just in time — are severely stressed. While I was here, I spoke with a local restaurateur who operates the pizza place I worked in forty years ago. She is barely hanging on. This is true of most local businesses. I was on the phone for three hours trying to sort out a minor banking issue, after being delayed for a full day while flying, after having been delayed in a similar way only four days before. And, because I am an entitled Westerner, accustomed to my privileges, I got whiny about it. I have a banker that takes care of my affairs, and I sent him and his associate a string of complaints about the service I was receiving. They wrote back, apologetically, and told me that they’re barely able to function with the COVID restrictions, the attendant staff shortages (also caused by illness) and their inability to attract new employees — a problem besetting many industries at the moment. I am not accustomed to feeling particularly sympathetic for the travails of large, successful enterprises: banks, airlines, utilities and the like. I expect a certain standard of service, so that I can conduct my own affairs effectively, and am impatient when delays unnecessary in the normal course of things emerge. The letter from the bank stopped me and made me think, however. It wasn’t just the bank. It was also the airline. It was the empty shelves in the grocery store in northern Alberta. It was the daughter of the man I once worked for as a cook, back when I was a teenager. It was the shopkeepers and small business-people I have spoken with on this trip. We are pushing the complex systems upon which we depend and which are miraculously effective and efficient in their often thankless operation to their breaking point. Can you think of anything more unlikely than the fact that we can get instant trouble-free access to our money online, using systems that are virtually graft- and corruption-free? Just imagine how much work, trust and efficiency was and is necessary to make that a reality. Can you think of anything more unlikely than fast, reliable and inexpensive jet air travel, nationally and internationally, in absolute safety? Or the constant provision of almost every consumer good imaginable, in the midst of plentiful, varied and inexpensive food? These systems are now shaking. We’re compromising them seriously with this unending and unpredictable stream of restrictions, lockdowns, regulations and curfews. We’re also undermining our entire monetary system, with the provision of unending largesse from government coffers, to ease the stress of the COVID response. We’re playing with fire. We’ve demolished two Christmas seasons in a row. Life is short. These are rare occasions. We’re stopping kids from attending school. We’re sowing mistrust in our institutions in a seriously dangerous manner. We’re frightening people to make them comply. We’re producing bureaucratic institutions that hypothetically hold public health in the highest regard, but subordinating all our properly political institutions to that end, because we lack leadership, and rely on ultimately unreliable opinion polls to govern broadscale political policy. I’ve never seen breakdown in institutional trust on this scale before in my lifetime. I was recently in Nashville, Tennessee. No lockdowns. No masks. No COVID regulations to speak of. People are going about their lives. Why can that be the case in Tennessee (and in other U.S. states, such as Florida) when there are curfews (curfews!) in Quebec, two years after the pandemic started, with a vaccination rate of nearly 80 per cent? When BC is still limiting social gatherings? When we are putting tremendous and unsustainable strain on all the complex systems that have served us so well, and made us so comfortable, in the midst of the troubles of our lives? The cure has become worse than the disease. I have spoken with senior advisors to provincial governments in Canada. There is no end game in sight. The idea that Canadian policy is or should be governed “by the science” is not only not true, it’s also not possible, as there is no simple pathway from the facts of science to the complexities of policy. We are deciding, by opinion poll, to live in fear, and to become increasingly authoritarian in response to that fear. That’s a danger, too, and it’s increasingly real. How long are we going to flail about, hiding behind our masks, afraid to send our children (who are in no danger more serious than risk of the flu) to school, charging university students full tuition for tenth-rate online “education,” pitting family member against family member over vaccine policy and, most seriously, compromising the great economic engine upon which our health also depends? Until we decide not to. There are no risk-free paths forward. There is only one risk, or another. Pick your poison: that’s the choice life often offers. I am weary of living under the increasingly authoritarian dictates of a polity hyper-concerned with one risk, and oblivious to all others. And things are shaking around us. Enough, Canadians. Enough, Canadian politicos. Enough masks. Enough social gathering limitations. Enough restaurant closures. Enough undermining of social trust. Make the bloody vaccines available to those who want them. Quit using force to ensure compliance on the part of those who don’t. Some of the latter might be crazy but, by and large, they are no crazier than the rest of us. Set a date. Open the damn country back up, before we wreck something we can’t fix. Time for some courage. The new premier of Alberta in western Canada, who was sworn in on Tuesday, told reporters that the unvaccinated have been “the most discriminated against group that I’ve witnessed in my lifetime” in reference to restrictions which were imposed on those who had not been jabbed. Smith said she wanted to stand up against creating a ‘segregated’ society on the ‘basis of medical choice’ as she slammed the restrictions which were imposed on unvaccinated Canadians. “(The unvaccinated) have been the most discriminated-against group that I’ve ever witnessed in my lifetime,” Smith told reporters at the legislature. “I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a situation in my lifetime where a person was fired from their job or not allowed to watch their kids play hockey or not allowed to go visit a loved one in long-term care or hospital, not allowed to get on a plane to either go across the country to see family or even travel across the border. “I find that unacceptable. We are not going to create a segregated society on the basis of a medical choice.” She added that those who made a choice not to be vaccinated became the “community that faced the most restrictions on their freedoms in the last year” when asked about vaccine choice by a reporter, adding: “That’s a pretty extreme level of discrimination”. Earlier in the day, the Canadian politician, journalist and newly elected leader of the United Conservative party was sworn into the job by Lt.-Gov. Salma Lakhani at a ceremony at Government House, becoming Alberta’s 19th premier. In her address, she said that Albertans had been through a lot over the course of the last two and a half years, adding that “our rights and freedoms have been tested”. “I will ensure as head of this government that those rights and freedoms are protected and will never be taken for granted again,” Smith, 51, said. While her comments attracted support from many, particularly those who faced difficulties for not taking a Covid vaccine, some rallied against the new Conservative leader and premier. However, Smith refused to back down, releasing a statement on Wednesday in response to the backlash from some political figures in Canada, who disputed her assertion that the unvaccinated were the ‘most discriminated against’. “Yesterday, I made comments regarding the discrimination unvaccinated individuals have suffered through over during the past two years. My intention was to underline the mistreatment of individuals who chose not to be vaccinated and were punished by not being able to work, travel or, in some cases, see loved ones,” Smith said. “I want to be clear that I did not intend to trivialize in any way the discrimination faced by minority communities and other persecuted groups both here in Canada and around the world or to create any false equivalencies to the terrible historical discrimination and persecution suffered by so many minority groups over the last decades and centuries. “We need to actively work together as Albertans and Canadians to end all discrimination against all minority communities. “I am committed to listening, learning and addressing the issues affecting minority communities. Over the next few days, my office will be reaching out to set up meetings with minority community stakeholders so I can better understand the different concerns of their individual communities,” the statement concluded. In January 2022, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau labelled unvaccinated people as racist misogynists who do not believe in science or progress. Speaking in French, he told a Quebec television station that Canadians need to make a choice as to whether they will tolerate "these people." "They don’t believe in science/progress and are very often misogynistic and racist. It’s a very small group of people, but that doesn’t shy away from the fact that they take up some space. "This leads us, as a leader and as a country, to make a choice: Do we tolerate these people?" he said in comments which fostered division and alarmed many. In some Canadian provinces including Quebec, there was a tough crackdown on unvaccinated, through measures including the requirement of proof of vaccination to shop in liquor stores, while the province also announced plans to tax unvaccinated Canadians. The financial punishment was described as a barrier to freedom of choice and personal autonomy, and attracted sharp criticism from Canadian psychologist Dr Jordan Peterson. Covid-19 border measures, which meant those entering Canada had to be vaccinated, only came to an end on 1 October. The shocking revelations were made by past CBC Manitoba reporter Marianne Klowak during testimony at the National Citizen's Inquiry (NCI) on May 18 in Ottawa. "I know that as a public broadcaster, you'd expect us to be telling you the truth, and we stopped doing that," said Klowak. "And it was a number of stories that I have put forward that were blocked, but it seemed to me as a journalist who'd been there 34 years, it's like the rules had changed overnight. And it changed so quickly that it left me just dizzy." Klowak noted that it was her editors who prevented her from doing stories in relation to protests against the COVID mandates, as well as reports of people having adverse events to the COVID shots, as reported by doctors. She noted she had "witnessed in a very short time the collapse of journalism, news gathering, investigative reporting," adding that the way she "saw it" is that "we were in fact pushing propaganda." "Not only had we shut down one side by silencing and discrediting anyone opposing the narrative, we had elevated and designated ourselves as gatekeepers of the truth. We no longer believed our audience was capable of thinking for themselves," she told the NCI. Klowak said a story of hers about a woman who had a COVID vaccine injury was completely neutered, or in effect "sanitized."  "It should be just a straight story about someone who suffered an adverse reaction and we shouldn't downplay it," she noted. "Instead, the way I saw it, her story was buried in experts and health officials and stats, which sanitized it." Klowak admitted that journalists "failed to hold power to account and no one was holding the media to account."  In July of 2022, Klowak revealed that the CBC deliberately skewed its reporting on COVID-19 inoculations. She said that CBC was "canceling one whole side of the debate" as the experimental COVID-19 shots became available across the world. The NCI is a citizen-led and citizen-funded independent initiative investigating the government's response to the COVID so-called pandemic.  At the inquiry in Ottawa as well, Dr. Christopher Alan Shoemaker, a Canadian doctor with 45 years of experience, testified about the injuries correlated with the COVID-19 mRNA injections, notably the jab's effects on kids and reproductive health. Shoemaker had his medical license suspended in January of 2022 by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) because he spoke out against the COVID shots. In an appearance on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Dichter explained that, regardless of promises from politicians, things can go south quickly. “It’s simple,” Dichter said Thursday. “I mean, we’ve seen Canada go from a country of Justin Trudeau’s promises of sunny ways into dark, authoritarian oppression and control.” In response to one such Canadian measure which would require cross-border truckers to show proof of vaccination, more than 50,000 truckers formed a 45-mile-long convoy that left Vancouver on Sunday, headed for Ottawa. “We want two things,” Dichter said. “We want to get rid of the vaccine mandates and the passports. And the passports is — that’s really the concerning one.” He described his first time using the digital passport and the unease he felt as he crossed the border. “Yesterday, it was my first time ever crossing the border in my truck with my digital passport, and I held my phone up to the Border Agent to give him the QR code. You know what he said to me?” he asked Tucker. “‘Oh, it’s okay. I don’t need it.'” “So, what do you mean you don’t need it?” Dichter continued. And here’s the chilling part: “He says, ‘Oh, your phone already popped up on my screen and is correlated with your passport,'” Dichter said. “Think of that. Can you believe that? So they know everybody who is coming up to the border before they’re there, and they are tracking them.” It’s a disturbing thought. One that is primed to fuel speculation on where it might lead. “Now, maybe it is outlandish,” Dichter said, “but what’s to prevent the government from introducing that across Canada and not limiting it to just borders? And you guys are getting it as well, and you can thank us for that,” he cautioned, presumably referring to a Biden administration mandate that went into effect on January 22, requiring all truckers who cross U.S. land borders to be fully vaxxed. “Apparently, the Trudeau government — the Biden administration had no interest in it, but the Trudeau government lobbied and requested the Biden administration to introduce this,” he said, citing sources within the media and government. Digital passports, such as New York state’s Excelsior Pass and digital vaccine verification cards in California, are already in play, and many workers, such as those at athletic giant Nike, are finding they have to upload their vaccination status to third-party services, so it isn’t a stretch to see more restrictive — some would even say “fascist” — measures spreading across all of North America. Dichter’s question is, “why?” “We don’t know why,” he said. “We don’t know the terms of the deal Are they going to be trading intelligence back and forth between Canada and the U.S., tracking cell phones? Of course, we have no idea. But this is where we’re going if this does not stop. That’s why this is the line. This is where it ends.” ...............
