Thomas Sowell (born June 30, 1930) is an American author, economist, and political commentator who is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. Sowell is the author of more than 45 books (including revised and new editions) on a variety of subjects including politics, economics, education and race, and he has been a syndicated columnist in more than 150 newspapers. People's Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier is running in the Manitoba byelection for the Portage-Lisgar riding. The riding of Portage-Lisgar was previously held by longtime Conservative MP Candice Bergen, who served as the party's interim leader after the ousting of O'Toole and stepped down in February. Candice Bergen won the riding in 2021 with over 50 per cent of the vote. UTL COMMENT:- To obsessively look for racism IS racism. . Script: Growing up in New York, you could say I was a "default liberal." My political opinions, to the extent I had them, weren't deeply thought out. They just… were. My philosophy was "live and let live." Say what you want, do what you want, just don't physically harm or abuse another person. . I also never thought much about my skin color — or anybody else's. For me and my friends, race was never more than a punchline to a joke. . After graduating from college, I got my dream job as an engineer at a major toy company, Hasbro. Everything seemed to be moving in the right direction. . And then one day the company decided that all the engineers would have to attend a training session on implicit bias, racial awareness, and intersectionality. . This was my introduction to the mad, mad world of corporate DEI — Diversity, Equity, Inclusion. . When I heard about the session, I rolled my eyes. All I wanted to do was make cool toys for kids. But, if the company was going to make me sit through some HR mumbo jumbo, I'd play along. The sooner I got through it, the sooner I could get back to the drawing board — literally. . So, there I was on a ZOOM call with a bunch of other employees listening to a DEI presentation entitled "Racial Biases and Children." . Children hold racial biases? Adults maybe, but Hasbro's clientele? It struck me as a little weird. A voice in my head said I should record the session. . The presenters, a husband-and-wife team, started by claiming 'white babies as young as three months begin to exhibit racial preferences'. . By two years, they're excluding other children based on race… . By three, they're intentionally using racist language… . By four, they're showing "a strong and consistent pro-white, anti-black bias." . And, by five, they hold the same racist biases as their parents. . You think most five-year-olds are innocent; these presenters think they're auditioning for the KKK. . Hasbro, these mind-readers added, was compounding the problem. Our toys skewed "white" and were therefore perpetuating "anti-blackness." . "For both kids and adults," they said, "stereotypes in the product and marketing can reinforce dangerous hostility and resentment." . California Teacher Has Unhinged Classroom Meltdown Over Trump Win

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith announces new proposed legislation prohibiting gender reassignment surgeries for minors and placing restrictions on hormone therapy and puberty blockers for youth, with the exception of 16- and 17-year-olds, who will be required to obtain parental, doctor, and psychologist approval. Smith also says the proposed legislation will require parental notification for a teacher or staff member to change a child's name or pronoun and publicly use that new name or pronoun in a classroom setting or assembly. Additionally, Smith says the proposed legislation will require parents to opt in if a teacher wishes to discuss gender identity, sexual orientation, or human sexuality. Finally, Smith says the proposed legislation will include a prohibition on individuals born biologically male from competing in girls' or women's sports.

Toronto Metropolitan University, formerly known as Ryerson University, is launching what may be the world's first DEI med school where prospective students will be chosen not on merit, but rather on the colour of the skin or ancestry. The remaining 25% of students will be chosen through the general admissions stream.
