Montauk Fishing Boat Mary Alice Setting Tuna Lines Before Sunrise

8/2/2024 The Mary Alice departed Montauk Harbor at 1:30am and set a course south, distance 30 miles. At 4:30am/gray light, half an hour before sunrise the crew had lines set and Captain Persnickety Pete set our trolling course. During the coarse of the day we alternated between trolling and jigging. We managed 2 smaller slot bluefin tuna and released several others. We had a larger tuna on, that might have been our larger slot bluefin, but we lost him. That’s why they call it fishing and not catching! Overall a great day fishing aboard the Mary Alice, complete with her new paint job and upgrades. On our way heading home approximately 10 miles south of the point, we stopped to view a pod of whales. There must’ve been 20 whales in a half mile radius and boy what a show they put on for us. As we laid dead in the water viewing their acrobatic show, two large humpback whales crossed our bow. Captain Pete backed down, to allow them safe passage. What a way to wrap up the day, amazing! Great boat, great captain, great crew! Hope you enjoyed the video
