Truth
◦ Who is the truth?
▪ John 14:6 → Jesus is the truth.
▪ John 14:17 → The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth that abides in us.
▪ 1 John 2:27 → We don’t need men to teach us if Jesus abides in us as the truth from the
Holy Spirit.
◦ God, Jesus Christ, is the truth
▪ John 1:17 → Grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
◦ The Bible is the truth
▪ Jesus is the word. God is His word. The Bible is the truth then seeing as it is the word of
God, and Jesus is also the word of God.

Genesis 1:1, John 1:1 → In the beginning was God and God was the Word.

John 1:14 → The Word became flesh and was full of truth (Jesus)

John 14:6 → Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Most importantly for this Bible
study: He is the truth.

Psalm 12:6-7 → The words of God are pure, and therefore the truth is preserved.

Proverbs 30:5, Psalms 119:160 → Every word of God is pure and true.

Revelation 19:13 → Jesus is described in Revelation as having the name, the Word
of God.

▪ James 1:18 → We are brought about by the word of truth to be firstfruits to God
▪ John 4:23-24 → We should worship God in truth and in spirit.
▪ John 14:17 → Spirit of truth will teach us the truth (Holy Spirit)
▪ John 17:17 → We are sanctified by the word of God as it is truth.
▪ John 8:32 → The truth makes us free.
▪ 1 John 4:6 → Those who listen to us (true Christians) have the Spirit of truth. Those
who don’t have the spirit of error.
▪ Ephesians 6:14 → Part of the armor of God is the belt of truth
◦ Truth and Sin
▪ 1 John 1:5-7 → If we walk in darkness while having fellowship with Jesus, we are lying
and not practicing the truth. This is because God is light.
▪ 1 John 4:20 → If we hate our brother, the truth is not in us.
▪ 1 John 1:8 → If we say we are without sin, the truth isn’t in us.
▪ John 8:44-45 → Those who hate the truth are of the devil and will not believe the truth
of Jesus Christ.

▪ John 3:21 → If we love the truth, our works will done in the light wrought by God.
▪ John 18:37 → Those who are of the truth hear Jesus’ voice.
