Sometimes God will send us through a storm. It’s not what we had planned, but what God has planned. It may not be pleasant, but it is far better than if we just do things our own way. In this lesson, the people had planned to sail to Rome, Italy; but because of a storm, they found themselves shipwrecked on the Island of Malta. God’s plan was bigger than just sailing to Italy. He wanted to see the people on the boat saved, and also the people on Malta. Through that storm, He wanted them to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I'm really excited to share this lesson with you today on being a watchman! This is an important role within the church that God has called all Christ followers to do, to some degree or another. A watchman gives warning when someone is headed down the wrong path, to try to help them get going in the direction they need to be. This is the story of Stephen. Stephen was obedient to what God wanted to say to the Religious Establishment which were what I would call the equivalent of counterfeit Christians. He told them what they needed to hear in a way that they needed to hear it. They didn't like that, so they killed him. There is a lot to learn in this story. There's an appropriate way to share a message with someone depending on the circumstances; but there are times we need to receive correction from others. Why do they do that?
