And it is talking about divine protection. But biblical scholar Michael Heiser will go deep into the meaning of Psalms 91. Michael Heiser told us that after 15 years on theological education he only had one hour of study on the subjects of angels, demons and the supernatural. This is a huge downside of theological education. So Michael Heiser wrote the classic book the Unseen Realm about the supernatural. Michael Heiser explains that we must view this text in light on the ancient Israelite. They saw things from a supernatural point of view. They understood that spiritual realities behind human activities. This is a much different view in current times where we view things in light of scientific realities. Psalms 91 Michael Heiser explain that these text where found with the dead sea scrolls with 4 others Psalms that were exorcistic psalms. They were talking about deliverance from evil spiritual forces. And we need to be delivered from spiritual forces at times. That is why the in the Lords prayers it states “And deliver us from evil”. Dr Michael Heiser explains that their are no exorcisms in the Old Testament era. Jesus ministry entered into the kingdom age of us having authority over demonic forces. Jesus was going to continue in the ministry of David with spiritual victories instead of military victories over the enemies of God. When Jesus started casting out demons the people got the message really quickly in that maybe we should listen to this man called Jesus. Satan also used Psalm 91 against Jesus in their spiritual battle in the desert. We are going to take a look at a public worship service in which demonic forces start manifesting.
