Matt Chandler Interview with Lecrae on God, Politics and the Church. Matt Chandler starts off by saying that neither the left or the right is for us. The church should be focused on King Jesus. He is talking about politics in the church to prepare his church for the 2024 elections. He quotes NT Wright who said "The left wants the kingdom but does not want the King. The right wants the King but does not want the kingdom". Matt states if you bring up King Jesus to the left and you have big problems. But if you bring up the poor and oppressed to the right you have big problems. Matt Chandler talks about how to navigate politics as a pastor. He states his job is to speak to the middle in the middle and not get engaged in conversations to the far left & right. The people in the far extreme left & right are going to misinterpret what he says anyway.
