"Frank West, a freelance photographer looking for the "scoop of a lifetime", who finds himself in the fictional town of Willamette, Colorado. As he enters the town via helicopter, he believes there may be a riot happening in the streets. Upon closer inspection, however, Frank realizes that something more sinister is happening in the town of Willamette."

"As Frank approaches the Paradise Plaza door, he hears a sound coming from behind him. Preparing for the worst, he picks up a fire extinguisher and swings it at the source, nearly missing Jessie who he mistook for a zombie. Jessie's reaction caused her to fall backward and sprain her ankle, hindering her mission to assist Brad, who was seen being fired upon in the Food Court. Frank convinces Jessie to let him take her place and she gives him a handgun. Before they part ways, he insists that afterward, they are going to have a chat once the commotion is over."

"Frank West arrives at Wonderland Plaza to find the Space Rider roller coaster malfunctioning at an uncontrollable speed."

"Jessie spots Carlito dragging Dr. Barnaby out of the bookstore on the monitors in the security room. Brad exclaims that if Carlito carries out whatever he plans on doing with the professor, they may never know what's going on. He heads out to rescue him, with Frank deciding to follow him for the story."

"Frank arrives at Crislip's Home Saloon and finds several headless zombies suspended from the ceiling. A relapsed Vietnam War veteran Cliff Hudson then confronts him, demanding his name and military rank. When Frank fails to answer, Cliff accuses him of being a member of the Viet Cong and proceeds to attack him." "Frank West enters Lovely Fashion House to find a police officer, Jo Slade, standing over a tied up hostage, Kay Nelson. Upon seeing Frank, she begins to degrade Kay, calling her a "whore" for "luring another man" into the store." "When Frank visits Paradise Plaza, he stumbles upon a strange gathering outside Jill's Sandwiches of many people dressed in yellow raincoats and green face masks, and an older man in a white robe."

"Brad's condition has stabilized after Frank brings back the medicine. Frank tells Jessie that he saved a girl who mentioned Santa Cabeza. Dr. Barnaby overhears them and says that he thought Santa Cabeza was over and done with. Jessie attempts to get him to tell the truth, but he spots Frank and his camera and refuses to speak. Frank says that he will have to get his information from another source."

"Frank arrives at Colby's Movieland to investigate the strange happenings involving the True Eye cult. Upon entering Theater 4, Frank finds four people tied up as the cult leader, Sean Keanan, prepares a strange sacrificial ritual." "Kent Swanson is determined to prove once and for all that his photojournalist skills and commitment are greater than Frank's, by infecting Tad Hawthorne with a zombie queen to record the transformation process."

"Jessie cheerfully assumes that as soon as Brad captures Carlito, this whole ordeal will be over, unaware that her partner is already dead. Frank confronts Isabela and questions her about her brother's plans, and she suggests they check out his computer in their hideout."

"After Ed DeLuca's helicopter is destroyed by a lone zombie, Frank West collapses as more zombies approach from the now-breached Security Room. Isabela Keyes rescues Frank from the zombie ambush and brings him back to her previous hideout, where she informs him that he has been infected by the zombie parasite."
