Just using some leftover ammo from the monster test video.

If anyone is an experienced reloader, let me know how you think I did. I have not tried firing this ammo yet. I got a bullet puller because some of the first cartridges I made did not have enough crimp, so the bullet got pushed in when I was checking if they were secure. The last 15 out of the 25 I made appear to be good though, so we'll see. These are the beginning (very light) loads just to try to learn how to reload ammo, so they aren't any crazy high-power rounds, and we'll see how accurate. I'll post a part 2 if I remember of me actually testing the ammo at the range.

Reloading is a great way to shoot more while spending less money and learn a new skill while you're at it. You are able to make small adjustments that are specific to your gun to increase accuracy, rather than relying on factory ammo that has decent accuracy but is made to general standards that allow it to be reliable in most firearms. There is a cost to have the materials required to reload, but once you have the materials, and reload a decent quantity, the cost of purchasing the materials will quickly be offset by the cost saved from buying new ammo. If my math is right, I was able to reload this ammo for $0.16 a round, compared to about $0.60 for factory FMJ ammo. My only cost is the cost of the powder charge per round, because I got free bullets as part of Hornady's free bullet rebate offer, and the brass is re-used.

I did some math and here is how much money you could save by reloading: Cost for me to reload (with free 150 gr SP bullets from rebate): $0.28/round Cost to reload 150 grain SP: $0.69/round Cost to buy Hornady Whitetail (150 gr SP): $1.40 There are slight differences depending what powder, primer, and bullets you choose, but I also estimated $0.60/round for 150 gr FMJ, and $0.71/round for 150 gr SST. That's pretty good considering Hornady Black 168 gr FMJ is $1.70/round, and Hornady Superformance 150 gr SST is $1.95/round. This means you can reload for approximately 35% of the cost of buying factory ammo.

Follow for more ballistic testing videos! I have a lot of raw footage I just have to put together and make into videos. It takes quite a while to put long videos together, but I have at least 3 videos dropping this week testing factory ammo! I decided to do these videos separately, so they are easy to find under my guns playlist incase people want to compare different rounds. Other videos test a certain bullet with different levels of powder. And some videos test a variety of bullets and how well they perform.
