AMEN! John - Chapter 19 Summary: John chapter 19 describes the crucifixion and burial of Jesus. Pilate has Jesus flogged and mocked by the soldiers, who place a crown of thorns on His head and dress Him in a purple robe. Despite finding no basis for a charge against Jesus, Pilate succumbs to the pressure from the Jewish leaders and the crowd, who demand Jesus' crucifixion, claiming He declared Himself the Son of God. Pilate reluctantly orders Jesus' crucifixion. Jesus carries His cross to Golgotha, where He is crucified between two others. As He is dying, Jesus entrusts His mother to the disciple whom He loved, ensuring she is cared for. Jesus declares, "It is finished," and dies. To confirm His death, a soldier pierces His side, releasing blood and water. Jesus is then taken down from the cross and buried in a new tomb by Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus. This chapter highlights the fulfillment of prophecy, the completion of Jesus' redemptive work, and the profound sacrifice He made for humanity's salvation.

AMEN! John - Chapter 20 Summary: John chapter 20 recounts the resurrection of Jesus and His appearances to His disciples. Early on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene discovers the empty tomb and informs Peter and John, who rush to see for themselves. Inside the tomb, they find the linen wrappings but no body. Mary remains at the tomb weeping and encounters two angels and then Jesus Himself, whom she initially does not recognize. Jesus speaks to her, revealing His identity, and instructs her to tell the disciples that He is ascending to the Father. Later that evening, Jesus appears to the disciples, showing them His wounds and granting them peace, along with the Holy Spirit. Thomas, who was absent, doubts their account until Jesus appears again and invites Thomas to touch His wounds, leading Thomas to proclaim Jesus as "My Lord and my God." The chapter concludes with John stating the purpose of his Gospel: that readers may believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing, they may have life in His name.

John - Chapter 21 Summary: John chapter 21 describes a post-resurrection appearance of Jesus to His disciples by the Sea of Galilee and concludes the Gospel with a reaffirmation of Peter's role. Several disciples, including Peter, go fishing but catch nothing overnight. In the morning, Jesus appears on the shore, though they do not recognize Him at first. He instructs them to cast their net on the right side of the boat, resulting in a miraculous catch of fish. Realizing it is Jesus, Peter jumps into the water to swim to Him. Onshore, Jesus prepares a breakfast of bread and fish and shares it with them. After the meal, Jesus asks Peter three times if he loves Him, mirroring Peter's earlier three denials. Each time Peter affirms his love, Jesus commissions him to "feed my sheep," indicating Peter's restored leadership role. Jesus also hints at Peter's future martyrdom. The chapter ends with a note about the authorship and reliability of John's Gospel, emphasizing that Jesus did many other things not recorded in the book.
