"I Only Want To Be With You," written by Mike Hawker and Ivor Raymonde, was Dusty Springfield's first solo entry onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1964 and rose to the no. 12 position on the chart; The Bay City Rollers' version was released in 1976 and tied with Springfield's chart position, no. 12, on the chart; then in 1982, Samantha Fox's version stalled at the no. 31 slot on the chart (Whitburn, 2013). Springfield's version "became the first hit by a British artist since The Beatles started their run" (songfacts, 2024).
