Harnwell: Cracks Widen In NATO As Italy Definitively Rules Out Letting Ukraine Strike Inside Russia

VIDEO SYNTHESIS / Biden’s claims to be uniting the West against Russian aggression have taken a blow as serious divisions break out into the open within NATO. The big surprise is that the first country to say a firm NO to Biden, Stoltenberg, Zelensky et al is Italy — the European country that up until now had been the most slavishly “Atlanticist”.

Italian foreign minister Antonio Tajani claimed that the country’s constitution prohibited both Ukraine using its weapons to strike inside Russian territory and allowing the deployment of Italian troops to Ukraine: “We are not fighting against Russia. We are defending Ukraine, it’s not the same.”
