Black Locust debarking method

In this short video, I demonstrate the seemingly simple idea of removing bark from the bottom 3 feet of my black locust deer fence posts. After trial, error and subsequent study, I learned to remove the bottom 3 feet of bark as soon as possible while the inner layers were still moist. The method involves hammering to loosen innner bark layers, and removing in sheets. Boring, but quite useful if you’re building a fence out of freshly harvested timber, and want to avoid fence rot below the ground. Black Locust is the 2nd hardest wood in North America, and removing the bark is not easy. ENJOY!
